I want brady to get his ass kicked, re-injure his hand, and I want Harrison to break his leg on the first defensive series. Then I want Gronk to hit somebody after the whistle because he didn't get a call, and get ejected.

Then I want Blount to get a concussion and not return.

I want Nick Foles to have the game of his career.

GO Eagles!!

Unfortunately, Nick Foles already had the game of his career.

I think to expect a second one...against Bill Belichick...is too much to ask.

And Todd Pederson WILL make a totally brain dead decision at a critical point in the game.

Book it.

This is where I'm at.
BB has 2 weeks to prepare a game plan for Foles which means he is going to be up against some fronts he won't have seen prior.
Figure the Pats put Gilmore on Jeffrey. Maybe zone to the other side. I think the Eagles have to get Ertz involved early and often to have a chance.

Eagles fans for the most part are so obnoxious(as are most fans) but too many of them think this is a sure win for the Birds.

The Pats have cemented their status and nothing that happens in two weeks is going to alter that. Part of me wants them to lose and maybe a loss is the catalyst for the downfall of the franchise.

If Wentz was going I'd put money on Philly.

On the other hand, maybe a win would be enough to persuade Brady and Belichick to retire on top. Probably not, though- I bet they're gunning for at least 7.

They get six...they're gonna want seven.

It's best that they don't win at all costs and that means having Brady go down early.

I'm rooting against the league and for even lower ratings than the playoff games:

I used to work off and on in Philadelphia and now my daughter and son in law live in West Chester. I have a lot of friends in the area and have put in many long hours watching the Eagles at various sports bars in the Philadelphia suburbs. Eagles fans are a good bunch not withstanding those jerks who were hassling the elderly Vikings fan. They're also nuts. A few years ago a few of my Philadelphia friends took in a Steelers game. None of them had ever been to a Steelers game before. One of them calls me after the game to tell me how polite and well behaved Steelers fans were. Not like all the derelicts you run into at The Linc he says. The Cheatriots will get all they want to see on Super Bowl Sunday. Iggles are loaded with over achieving under rated players who play with a nasty edge. I look for a close physical game and an Eagles upset. Go Iggles!

I've been wishing for just that kind of defining loss for that franchise. I was hoping we'd be the ones to deliver it this year.

I've successfully stopped investing my emotional energy in the defeat of the New England Patriots. Here's why...

a. My hockey team has won two consecutive Stanley Cups. I feel blessed as a sports fan.
b. Once my football team is out of contention, I no longer much give a shit who wins.
c. Living up here, Behind Enemy Lines, the decent fans and credible local media far outnumber the yahoos and idiots.
d. I actually like Bill Belichick....cheating aside, I wish he were our coach. I can't help but wander if Tom Donahoe had come out on top of the palace power struggle with Bill Cowher following the '99 season, if maybe Belichick would have been in Pittsburgh.
e. I don't much care about how many Super Bowls other teams have own. My team won 6; I was privileged to watch perhaps the greatest team of all time, the '70s Steelers.

All that said, FUCK the Patriots. I'm rooting for the Iggles. AND...I think they have a good shot.

Serious question from a non American why is The Excited States of America so into the army, and all things army and war and illegally invading countries and killing people and stuff?? And why do you insist that every citizen think this way or be unpatriotic?? It is a really weird dynamic and I think its fair to say that this dynamic does not occur, to this degree, in any other developed democratic country?? Its weird as fuck. :? :?

P.S. I will be watching the game, sorry Dan.

Accolades to Barry Foster for the most comprehensive Fuck the Patriots rant to ever appear on this site or any other...I mean he even remembered Mark Wahlberg and Ted! Seriously guys we all have to root for the Eagles. If I see that pompous ass Kraft grinning after a Patriots touchdown one more time I'm going to take a shotgun to the TV.

Absolutely, I don't hate the Eagles at all. I actually like them to some degree, they aren't Steelers rivals in any way, they play each other every three years. I don't even hate anything Philly except maybe the Flyers-but they've been irrelevant anyways. I've only been there 2-3 times, and that was to visit relatives, so I have no problem with the place. Plus Eagles haven't won a title since 1960, so why not.

THIS^^^

I used to get upset when Steelers would fail in the playoffs in the '90s. But what I really wanted was Super Bowl wins OUTSIDE THE '70s, which mattered to me for some reason. Now I just feel like you can't expect much more, you could be the Vikings, Browns or Lions, or the Jet's still talking about 70 year old Broadway Joe, so I would love to win again, but I'm not extremely upset.

I agree with you. I honestly don't get it at all, I grew up in the USA and never really lived anywhere else, and I'm amazed at how we get nothing at all like other countries get in regards to paying for higher education or at least cheaper healthcare etc, like Canada and Europe and a lot of countries get, and the GOP wins elections promising increasing military and security spending even more when we already spend more than like the next 15 countries combined? And Americans like to swagger around like they are tough guys and then whine for more legal carry gun laws because they are afraid to go outside unarmed? I mean I'm not even a gun control person, I just wonder why so many Americans are such scared PUSSIES that they don't want to improve their own lives and the country to WASTE TRILLIONS on un-needed military because they are so terrified about the rag head boogie man coming to kill their children! LOL! Americans are the most scared, paranoid people in the world, people living in or near the middle east are less scared.

I honestly don't care about the 6 SB trophies thing. Maybe I would if they were passing the Steelers, but a tie doesn't bother me. Maybe that will light a fire under EMR's ass to get this team to another championship.

I'd love to see Deebo lift another Lombardi and would like to send the glossy photo of that to Herm Tomlin's office.

On the other hand, Philly fans are also helping to push me towards the Pats camp.

I think it will simply come down to this......What outcome will result in Philly burning to the ground to a larger extent?

Nick you are correct. Its part of the cult that the boogie man is around the corner and we have to protect ourselves by spending disgusting amounts of money on the military at the expense of the general populace. Every developed democracy in the world has universal health care and reasonable education costs, but the richest country in the world can't afford it (see Republican mantra    ) They keep people scared and stupid (see metrics on education quality and spending). Anyhoo I will be watching and pulling for Philly to win BUT James to get 3 sacks

Good thing the US military was around the last time three crazy ass dictators tried to take over the world.

And while we have our share of huge military mistakes (Vietnam), the purpose of a strong military is to prevent crazy ass dictators from trying to do so again.

Our enemies only respond to strength.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.
