I like the physical element to the game, and I didn't think the hit on Reece was egregiously illegal -- it was a big man running over a smaller man who was handling the puck. I guess he made contact with his head, but definitely didn't look intentional.

He clearly INTENDED TO CRUSH Reece, but it didn't look like he was intentionally head hunting.

You have been overlooking the third and fourth lines of the Caps completely in this series. I'll give you Smith-Pelly and maybe Connolly might just be overachieving, but Eller has become nearly the equal of what Marcus Johansson was, with maybe a little bit of Backstrom thrown in there for good measure. With all due respect to Jason Chimera there is a lot more speed and skill on our fourth line w/Chiasson and Vrana than I have ever seen on a Caps roster. I think our offensive depth is as good if not better than last year, and getting Kempny has largely staunched the defensive bleeding this offseason and earlier in the year.

It will be a much different story if Kessel, or god help me Carl Fuckin' Hagelin shows up to the party, or we get an injury on D, but what have your bottom two lines done so far this series? Sullivan has work to do, and not just because Wilson murdered a guy tonight.

Tom Wilson is out of this series as a reminder that at 6'4" with a granite shoulder you can't elevate and "finish" a check through a guy's face that is four inches shorter and twenty pounds lighter. Even if the hits are technically legal by some definition that play was ultimately selfish and stupid and why I am begrudgingly accepting and gritting my teeth through this suspension and why I didn't try to defend it. Unlike a goon like Tom Sestito - who drew a Penguins paycheck last season - Tom Wilson can play hockey and thats what he should be doing.

Barry Trotz comparing Guentzel’s check on Carlson to Wilson shows first hand how disingenuous these people are.

Furthermore when Matt Cooke hit Marc Savard 3 or 4 years ago - I was shocked and angry about it and thought he was a scum bag piece of shit for doing it. So did Lemieux and the Penguins- they forced him to change his game which he did. The exact opposite of how these goons have handled their players.
