They're gonna have to partner with Best Buy for a TV replacement PR campaign if that happens.

A guy that I have not seen tied to the Steelers at all, but I could see them taking is Clelin Ferrell - EDGE from Clemson. (High character, high production, from big time school...)

Going forward, after all the Mr. Big Chest and Le'Veon Bong bullshit, character might end up being more important than talent to this organization.

....and I can't blame them at all.

Ferrell could be there but is he a fit? I've seen him described as a 4-3 end in the NFL.

Ferrell would work for the Steelers. He is technically very very good. he has played in a 2 point stance and can cover the flat, ect. At worst it would be like Harrison in coverage. He is one of the best EDGE defenders in this draft.

I read that too brick. He sets a consistent edge incredibly stout at the point of attack reads pass sets well with adequate bend rushing. Seems like all the boxes checked. I wasn't agreeing with the 4-3 assessment so much as stating what I've seen. I wouldn't be disappointed if they drafted Ferrell @ 20.

I would be excited that a talent like him fell to the Steelers ( and they drafted him).

Anymore I would think that Ferrell falls to them and they draft Julian Love

I also fear them reaching for an ILB. Specifically Mack Wilson.

If Wilson wasn't a Bama player I seriously doubt he'd be getting any notice whatsoever. I see him at best as a 3rd round talent with good coverage ability, ok athleticism that with time & good coaching might make him a decent starter. I do not see high upside and an explosive talent.

All the ILBs being considered in first 3 rounds have flashes of real play making ability. Not all of them played on a defense filled with future NFL players. Wilson stood out because he wasn't making plays on defense where everyone else was. Guy that played next to Wilson a soph I believe looked so much better it was glaring. Stats of course are not a universal truth but 7 tackles for loss in two seasons on that Defense? Oy.

The coverage skills are nice but that won't mean a damn thing if he cannot show up in run defense. The tape shows a player continually lost, swallowed up and rarely if ever impacting run plays by bursting through gaps or reading blocks. I don't get hung up on not getting off of blocks. Few ILBs have that skill set, most rely on speed and instincts to get around or past blocks. Shazier being a prime example. I don't see that in Wilson.

Steelers would be better waiting and taking a chance on Joseph in early 3rd. He is by no means finished product but he flashed big time play making ability that I never saw in any of Wilson's games. Even when Joseph was poor and inconsistent he flashed. Wilson just vanished, almost as if he was a passenger on the Bama defensive train.

If Steelers selected him; I wouldn't toss my TV out the window (don't have one) but I would reach for the single malt & rage/mumble incoherently while pouring Soul Fly into my ear drums.

Can Ferrell drop into coverage?

The way Butler uses his OLBers, they had better know how to cover.

If he can't, no way on earth they even consider him.

Exactly. This is what they want from their OLBs now. The inability to drop into coverage is why James Harrison rode pine his last season. The Steelers aren’t drafting an “edge setter” in the first round. They’d rather pick a third round safety...
That said...I’d welcome Farrell with open arms!

One thing in defense of Mack Wilson's run D: He was playing at 20 years old last year. That man strength hasn't come yet.

If the 7.26 3 cone time doesn't answer your question not sure who can. Ferrell did have a pre-existing toe injury so that may have contributed to his less than decent time. Still hasn't ran the 40 either.
