This is utter horse shit. If any team in the league has earned the capital to fire its black coach, it’s the Steelers. Please stop with your silly gibberish. No social justice warrior mob would ensue. This is just you looking at the world through some political heuristic device.steeledge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 4:55 pmNo, I'm not making that assumption.
Black coaches can certainly be fired, and have been.
Just not by the Rooneys, and that applies to any of their HCs, not just the black one...
Point is, if they were to even try to do the necessary thing and buck their trend at this point, they've set themselves up to be crucified with knee-jerk reactions of SJWs throughout the NFL, the media, and all over modern society, and would likely never recover their position as a paragon of the league.
...and to hell with everything they've done in the name of improving race relations...
Remember John Schnatter?
That, my brothers, is the sad truth of where we find ourselves at the dawn of 2020...

Maybe his heuristic model needs to be adjusted. Obviously you and I were thinking the same thing.CORE-TEN wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:15 pmI guess the pic I posted was too subtle. . .Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 9:48 pmI was just going to joke that the fish would to have to rot from the gut to be Tomlin’s fault.![]()

I guess that's the same universe that a 5-9 record is close to 8-6. Too funny. Thanks B2B, but I'll go with Bill Parcells who said you are what your record says. Once again, a Tomlin-led Steelers team tanks to a team worse than them.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 5:48 pmThe lowly Jets have arguably more talent than the Steelers and they have nearly the same record. Just because the Steelers defense is great doesn’t mean every other team is overmatched.

If I look at the roster without injuries, I think it is an excellent roster. Take our defense and add Tuitt back in, and we have a top 3 defense.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 8:04 pmIs there anyone who thinks from top to bottom, offense, defense, and special teams... this team is an above-average roster?
Add Gilbert and Nix back in, and special teams is better. Boz has been pro bowl like, return game is much improved with Johnson and Whyte. The punter has sucked the last two games, but was above average before that. I think we are middle of the pack here.
Add Ben and the offense greatly improves in several ways. The O Line has struggled, but the young QBs have not been able to set up the line at the snap. Ben will do that. They also can't improvise if they see a defense that can be exploited, but Ben will be able to. The running backs can be OK by committee, but a 2nd round pick RB can fix that. Ben will throw to the tight ends, so I think we are fine there. The receivers with Ben throwing are fine. I would like to see Ben throwing to Cain.
I feel very optimistic for next season. Ben also hides the Fitchner problem, although I think talent and inexperience at QB is more of the problem. Butler sucked at D Coordinator until he got great talent. All of the sudden he is not as bad. Last year we were number one in the red zone with Fitchner at O coordinator. Nothing makes Danny Smith look good.

8-7 and 6-9. They're one game different in the standings. The Jets are not as good as the Steelers, but they're no so far off that you can give them the ball and play switcheroo with two QBs. Their offense is equally bad but at least they have a guy with some pedigree as QB and a RB who can stay upright.Obviously wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 7:39 pmI guess that's the same universe that a 5-9 record is close to 8-6. I'm just saying: the loss was disappointing, but hardly world-shattering or shocking.

But I'm talking about our roster as of Sunday. On Sunday, we had all the injuries and all the replacement players that the team has squeezed about all there is to squeeze out of them.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:01 pmIf I look at the roster without injuries, I think it is an excellent roster. You DO see what we've been rolling out at the QB position, right?Obviously wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 7:39 pmI guess that's the same universe that a 5-9 record is close to 8-6. Too funny. It's funny. Whenever Tomlin has Ben, the critics lambaste Tomlin for losing to teams with worse QB's than Ben regardless of the rest of the makeup of the the teams. This season, Tomlin has had the worse QB in every game. And do these people give Tomlin credit for that? Nooooooooo.

The records before the game is what I go by. Of course the Jets' record improved against Tomlin's Steelers. And, of course, the NFL power rankings prior to the game had the Steelers at #12 and the Jets at #25, so yeah there was a huge disparity between the two teams.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:23 pm8-7 and 6-9.
