Thing is, though, Chuks has shown exactly 0 at LT. He hasn't even shown that well at RT. Banner, on the other hand, at least looked solid in preseason reps at both RT and (surprisingly) LT. I'm sure Chuks will get a shot but he's got to take a big step forward.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 4:05 amI think they Find either the LT or C in the next draft but i think the Believe Chucks will be the future LT with Banner as you said will be our RT.I think Matt and Zach will be able to get a good cheaper deal. But i like to think the steelers should have went after Bill Callahan instead of these two guys we have now.

Maybe need to start another thread, but I'm really curious what the running game looks like this year.
What does a healthy Ben, or even simply an average QB, do for the run game? Conner needs to stay healthy, but I don't think 2018 was a fluke. I also think Samuels is a much better player than what we saw in 2019.
And I know some are really high on McFarland. I think we have the makings of a nice set of backs, but how will they be used?

Pretty much my thougjts in Ben making all of them look better on O. I think he makes the O-line, WR and RB all better. I’m not concerned at RB at all other than I don’t think too highly of McFarfromsmart. Samuels I’m hoping gets used in the dump off department so he can work on YAC.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 2:53 amMaybe need to start another thread, but I'm really curious what the running game looks like this year.

Ben stays healthy and I think our O is gonna be on par with highest scoring O in Steeler history.

Not sure I've seen much that would cause me to call McFarland's intelligence into question, but he is what he is. He's going to have big games, big plays, and smaller games. He's a feast or famine type player. One game it'll be Jaysam making some plays, another it'll be McFarland, with Conner likely taking the lion's share of the snaps. I know he's got his detractors, but realistically, that's how it's probably going to be. Only thing that was going to change that was a R2 RB, and that wasn't exactly popular as a plan, either.

Just this:
“NFL Scout Called Steelers RB Anthony McFarland ‘Like a Child,’ ‘High Maintenance”
.”.....McGinn also reported that McFarland's Wonderlic score was 11, the lowest among the top running backs in the 2020 NFL Draft.”
Just strikes me as a change of pace dumbfuck.

I think Ike Taylor was rumored to have scored a 10. But I thought he was otherwise considered a hard worker and model teammate.
"HIgh Maintenance" scares the hell out of me after a string of Martavis Bryants, Antonio Brown, Leveon Bell and some others who weren't any good. I suppose the counter argument would be if you got 2-3 good years from McFarland that's just fine making one last push in Ben's final years.

Canada, who coached him at MD, had nothing but good things to say about McFarland's character and work ethic. For what it's worth. The Steelers likely did their due diligence.
The coaches that buried Willie Parker on the UNC depth chart probably didn't have very nice things to say to scouts about him to scouts, either. It's important to remember when reading anonymous quotes from scouts that they're really only parroting second hand information from coaches.
Some of what's been coming out of Iowa makes me wonder about college coaches and agendas, and what they might be willing to do or say about a player they dislike, purely for spite.
Wonderlic scores are by and large outdated garbage.
