Ravens play the Cowboys next Thursday. Sunday is the latest they can postpone the game until and probably 1pm game is the latest they can play.
I'm willing to bet some players on at least a few teams let their guard down over Thanksgiving, and the NFL will soon have no choice but to add a week or two to make-up games.

If you're on the Bengals, you're season is basically over and you probably don't give a shit - you're going to see your extended family for Thanksgiving.

I don’t see what changes on Sunday?

I don’t recall seeing a close contact list. I am guessing that list was doctored on Monday for an advantageous outcome for a Thursday game.

So anybody that was out on Monday or Tuesday will not be playing on Sunday. Seems like the outcome will be identical!

Unless of course their non-published close contact list was worse than not reported.

Horseshit.

I think it's different rules for close contacts. Want to say it's 5 days, and with 2-3 negative tests you can play. Those guy would not have been available for a Thurs game, but in theory they could go on Sunday.

I’m happy the game moved to Sunday. I was much more concerned the Ravens were going to spread their Covid to the Steelers.

It’s still an issue. Don’t be surprised if more Ravens test positive.

True, but Williams was the only one listed as close contact. I’d bet $100 there are some shenanigans going on with the close contact list and it is bigger than reported. Sunday game lets them get out of some rule breaking on the close contact reporting.

I think the list is done by the league office not the individual clubs. I am almost positive that is the case.

New restrictions are necessary. We are all sick of this bullshit. I live in Colorado and we are on partial lockdown. No sitting inside, etc. It absolutely sucks, But if I was the governor of any state, I would do the same thing if I was looking at the numbers.

This is about one thing. Hospital Space, ICU beds, medical staff and resources. That’s all this is about. One or two more months and vaccines will start to loosen things up

If you are a leader in a public health event, and you are not getting bitched at and threatened you’d better roll up your sleeves and get to work, because chances are you are not making the right, hard decisions.

Baltimore will add three more players -- offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Matt Skura and defensive end Calais Campbell -- to the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, according to a source. The Ravens now have seven players who either tested positive or have been identified as close contacts.
No centers and no running backs and no defensive line.

I remember the NFL saying they did not care about competitive advantage earlier this year but it seems like they they care about it when Pittsburgh plays. Didn't postpone San Fran vs GB.

According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, the following players have tested positive and will be out for the Steelers game Sunday:

RB Mark Ingram
RB JK Dobbins
QB Trace Mcsorley
DE Calais Campbell
OLB Pernell McPhee
G Patrick Mekari
C Matt Skura

So basically if they were to be out tomorrow they are out Sunday?

Yep. Doesn’t make any sense.

Unless there are players becoming eligible from the practice squad or off the streets from injury moves they made prior to Sunday’s results.

Fuck this bullshit. Stomp these motherfuckers out on Sunday.

BTW, shit like this is in Tomlin's wheelhouse as a coach. He won't let this affect the team in a negative way.
Missing the home primetime game, considering Tomlin's record in those and Ben's record in them... that hurts, too.

Maybe the league needs more time to conduct the necessary contact tracing to identify close contacts who need to quarantine? IDK.

Another factor: The PA ban on crowds at games goes into effect on Friday. Unless the Steelers get some dispensation, there will now be no fans at the game, just friends and family of the players.

Chances of getting a waiver are slim, considering the Eagles are playing Sunday with no fans because of it.

Close contacts still have to go on the covid list so we would know. Brandon Williams was a close contact. He will be the only one eligible to play.

no team knows the MASSIVE BENEFIT gained by hosting a short week game like the Ravens

since 2000 Baltimore is:

7-0 when hosting Thursday games
1-4 when traveling on the road for one

they win by 17 ppg when they host
they lose by 8 ppg when they travel

it is a MASSIVE EDGE

Off the top of my head I think just the Steeler games (Titans, Ravens (#1), Ravens (#2)) with both of the Ravens games giving them a distinct advantage against their biggest rival.

I make no judgement on whether fans should be at the game, but it's clearly a boost to the team's advantage.

Minkah Coates, I agree with you about the Vaccine but the process will begin in 1 to months with medical workers. 6 months till general population.

What are you smoking? 1 or 2 months till vaccine? We all arent Trump, general public wont see a vaccine for 5 or 6 months.

That's okay -- just more locker room fodder for Tomlin.
THIS is the worst part

Or getting as exposed to possible positives is the best part

Giving Ravens an extra advantage for likely not being as careful... Fucked
They’re not going to have their players back by Sunday so not sure what advantage this confers.

I still don't think a vaccine will be ready in 2 months. And if it is, it will still be in trial form, for emergency workers only, if they agree. They are only "hopeful" about a vaccine in 2 months.

Before the general population get vaccinated it will be mid summer or fall. The amount of doses (X2) needed is mind boggling. Different vaccines, different countries, different methods. I can only hope as far as the US is concerned, next year will be better by way of organization and management.
