I think there is something to the “new” approach

But it’s important to weigh that the math was informed mostly by the old approach

IMO it’s very situational and team vs team based if you wanna be successful with it

If fairness, no HC was an advantage in the modern NFL.
In no other sport is coaching and preparation as important as it is in football…so I’m going to strongly disagree.
I said ... on game day

The preparation and planning during the week means fuck all once the bullets are flying.
This is absolutely not true.

The preparation the week before the game is of paramount importance when the bullets start flying…it gives the players confidence as the bullets are flying.

I agree with you on the coaches’ “game day book” but Tomlin’s book is filled with additional “gut” pages which make his book worse than many coaches.

“Hey we need to put time pressure on the Raiders”…said no coach, ever, in that situation.

I don't think the Steelers show up unprepared. I think their problems are mostly the risk-aversion of the plan, questionable assistant coaching ability or failure to allow them to succeed, and recalcitrance in changing course when faced with the enemy countering the plan.

and they just make some risk-aversion decisions that hurt

Hard to argue with that
