I will not surprised when Z. Banner and S. Tuitt both make the 53 to then just be placed on IR, giving them each a 3 week "vacation".TTP wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:14 pmBlessing in disguise. Isn't PUP a minimum of 6 weeks and IR 8 weeks?
If Tuitt is out for 6-8 weeks the news is bad for the D.

Is Banner just too massive of a guy to stay healthy?
Listed at 6'-8" and 335.........
I do not think he is less than 375.
I'll go 365, final answer.

He got a big contract without any significant contribution. He's already set for life. No clue why they thought it made sense to sign him to that deal.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
PS should start Moore, take the lumps and I believe he will be fine by mid season. One thing Moore has shown that makes me think that? He improves steadily, when first put at RT he was a mess but since? Has gotten better and better. Of course he is not facing #1 defenses in pre season so question is can he make that jump?
I think he can and given Chuks has looked downright putrid at times I seriously doubt even if Moore struggles at first there would be much of a drop off.

Tomlin pet.
NHALS = NFL purgatory
Yep. Apparently, like his coach, Banner talks a good game.

I don't disagree but think about what you wrote there. Our nearly 40 year old, mobility challenged QB's best option to protect his blindside is a rookie.jewelsongs wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 1:46 amWhen Banner is finally healthy, Moore on the left and Banner on the right with Chucks as the swing is our best combo.

Moore looked pretty fuckin good to me.
Potentially Ben’s last year and his tackles are a joke
Super

In the preseason but I agree.
When you have to play for 60 minutes and the real bullets are flying against non Wal-Mart greeters, you'll find out a whole lot more about Moore.

Chuks is gonna have to toughen up in the run game at RT, but yeah, Moore getting a shot at LT could be a plus.TTP wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:14 pmBlessing in disguise. I hear you. Dodson was a 4th round pick last year and is our best OL. This was a great year for OTs, and I think we got a good one in Moore. They will have to help him initially, but I think he will work out. Someone pointed out that it looked like Ben worked with a mobility trainer during the offseason, watching his movement during the preseason. We will keep our fingers crosses. I am pretty sure he is in bigger danger if Chucks starts.K_C_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:55 pmI don't disagree but think about what you wrote there. See I like Moore a lot. But, yes, he is a rookie. There will be some growing pains...you just hope it doesn't cost us with big shots on Ben.
The think I like about more is his attitude. He's not a pussy like Chuks. He's got a nasty demeanor. One thing he has to improve on is staying low in the run game though.

PUP is different than injured reserve.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:34 pmIsn't PUP a minimum of 6 weeks and IR 8 weeks?

The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

They have changed IR, I believe it is only 3 weeks (games they have to miss) and then can come back. And there aren't any limits to how many can come back anymore from IR.
The only stipulation is that those players have to be on the initial 53 man roster to enjoy the more lax IR rules.
So, for example say Karl Joseph is signed to the active 53 man roster once the season has already begun, say he gets hurt after 4 games, if they place him on IR he won't be eligible for the call back, designated to return rules of IR.

I wouldn't be surprised if Banner doesn't play at all this year and is cut before the start of next year. Guy got paid after basically doing nothing and getting injured on top of that. He's never been in great shape to begin with. Some of the contracts they've given out to average or below olinemen over the years continues to be head scratching.

I'm sure Banner will play once healthy if Chuckwuma continues to play the way he has. I don't think Moore will relinquish the LT spot for many years.

Why is Chuks still on this team? He can't play Lt and he's not very good at rt. This team needs a versatile ot signing now. Who knows when Banner will be up to speed to play and play well. He may struggle all year coming back from injury.
