It funny, the Steelers haven't taken an OT in the first round since 1996 but I've never once heard anyone mention that. Yet every year just like CB people are saying we need to draft a LT. But as soon as someone mocks a CB to us someone has to to point out the fact that the Steelers haven't taken one since 1997.....

I would puke with Charlie's draft. No thanks on Harold in the first. Walt's is better I guess, still not great.

You're right, Walt's is slightly less vomitrocious. Slightly.

Beat me to it CD. That would be vomit city. If they pull the trigger on Harold in the 1st, I'll be shopping for a new TV.
O'Leary is the only player in both drafts I would be OK with. Langford is a nice player, but I don't want to use a 4th rounder on a backup RB.

I like it except O'Leary, I'd go corner or safety. ROWE would be a great pick if he'd be there in the 3rd, or S Anthony Harris, or Randall. Not so sure after his combine performance if he would be available for the Steelers #3.(ROWE)

Love Charlies draft. Sign CB Maxwell in FA with our newly created cap space and do whatever it takes to land Bud Dupree imo.

I like Rowe there but I think he'll go higher.

Walt's as of 3/10:

1.22 Landon Collins, S, Alabama
2.56 Alex Carter, CB, Stanford
3.87 Lorenzo Mauldin, DE/OLB, Louisville
4.118 Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State
5.152 Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State

Charlie's as of 3/9

1.22 Alvin Dupree, DE, Kentucky
2.56 Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
3.87 Quinton Rollins, CB, Miami of Ohio
4.118 Senquez Golson, CB, Ole Miss
5.132 Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame

Walt's only change was swapping Andrew Donnal for Ty Sambrailo. Charlie's made some big changes, and all for the worst IMO. I don't think we need to draft a DT with McClendon starting and McCullers on the bench. Then he drafts two mites for CB's.

I think Carl Davis would play 5 tech here

But anyone who takes Rollins over Steven Nelson (especially as a fit for the Steelers) is on crack.

um, no cop, say it ain't so

1.22 Landon Collins, S, Alabama-- overrated and okay at everything, great at nothing
2.56 Eric Rowe, S/CB, Utah-- like the player, too high for him considering what else available there
3.87 Lorenzo Mauldin, DE/OLB, Louisville-- bust... weak, slow, and unagile. Unholy trifecta for the NFL game
4.118 Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State- straight line only... lots of issues
5.152 Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State-- major issues with speed; showed poorly at all star game

Make mine more like:
1.22 Owamagbe Odighizuwa, OLB, UCLA
2.56 Steven Nelson, CB, Oregon State
3.87 Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford
4.118 Clayton Geathers, S, UCF
5.152 Ryan Delaire, OLB, Norfolk State
6.167 Rory Anderson, TE, South Carolina
6.208 Dominique Brown, RB, Louisville
7.238 Craig Mager, CB, Texas State
7.250 Laurence Gibson, OT, Virginia Tech
7.251 Phillip Sims, QB, Winston-Salem

Ehhh, every year there's 2 players I grab on to ROWE is one of them this year.
No corner that would be available at the Steelers 2nd round pick has Rowe's size weight speed.
I believe he was tops in 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle.

Rowe will be a terrific safety... I don't think his movement skills translate as well playing CB... he seemed out of place there. And it's no small thing that so many DBs have come out of that Utah program to the NFL.

Steven Nelson doesn't have Rowe's size but I'm really sold on his ability to play CB in a variety of coverages. He might be the most NFL-ready CB in this draft... and he'll probably be there for us in Rd 2.

I will be very curious this draft to see what cornerbacks we go after. Maybe Butler and Tomlin change things up, maybe having CBs that are better at playing the run, at tackling the catch and having no ballhawking skills will no longer be so high on the list.

We are all just making assumptions that the status quo will be maintained. That we are still going to go after the same "type" of DEs, OLBs, CBs and whathaveyou. Maybe and maybe not. This is not Dick LeBeau's defense any longer. There is a new sheriff in town. I am both curious an anxious to see if we do change things up, because we most certainly need to change things up because it is not working and hasn't for the past 3 years.

I don't think Alex carter nor Kevin Johnson fit the steelers but that doesn't stop practically every mock from including him.
