Who is replacing Butler.

So 30 sacks instead of 22.5?SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 9:54 pmFlores is the perfect guy for finally getting some impact plays out of Low Watt

Hopefully at least 23.0 so he can own the record by himself that he SHOULD have had last year.

I think it’s a great hire
Wonder why not make him DC though
He is a good coach and I bet the players will rally around him

Hire Flores
Ask Mike to hit the road in a year or two
Hire Flores as his replacement

Already gave that job to Teryl Austin.
I think Flores probably looked around and had no other options, or he would have had at least a DC position somewhere. I suspect this may end-up like with Morgan as the OL jobs were filled, including PIT, so he came on as an assistant OL coach. Then, of course, he bolted at the first opportunity the following year. My bet is Flores leaves for a DC or HC job next year after the dust has settled on his lawsuit.
Right now, I'm sure Flores is grateful to have a job. But I imagine that wears off quickly being a 3rd wheel on defense to a couple of dumbasses.

I wonder if this was a Deuce move or all Tomlin. If it's the former, I bet Mikey's finally feeling his seat getting a little warm.
Also added 4 more names to their GM search. Not sure it means anything, but seems like an unusually long and exhaustive search.

good move for Present and Future IMO
I love this hire.
I think they should not stop and hire a new Defensive Secondary coach to replace Teryl Austin's old spot. Yes, they have that guy they hired last year but a secondary coach often has to coach the linebackers for pass coverage too. One coach to do all of that? No, you need two for the secondary.
Steelers need to hire an experienced, vet coach, perhaps somebody who was a defensive coordinator and stack the coaching braintrust for defense.

Just 1 that makes a difference in a big game that matters over the next 5 yrs would be better than 0Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 10:22 pmSo 30 sacks instead of 22.5?SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 9:54 pmFlores is the perfect guy for finally getting some impact plays out of Low Watt

Tipped a Patrick Mahomes so that Bush could intercept it, returned a fumble for a TD in a playoff game. I love how you pretend Watt doesn't make impact plays in big games.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 12:25 amJust 1 that makes a difference in a big game that matters over the next 5 yrs would be better than 0Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 10:22 pmSo 30 sacks instead of 22.5?SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 9:54 pm

A motivated coach in waiting might be the best path for the Steelers
Hes a great coach so im good with the hire, but i think his HC opportunities ship has sailed now.

Love having a strong personality on the staff, especially the defensive staff. Should challenge Tomlin to be better. Hopefully anyway.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

This seems to be the play
“Mike has decided to retire” face saving window dressing
“We Do Not Care”........"I expect guys to make routine plays routinely"

Pathetic. Who's next Kapernick?

Scungy has the right on this. Great hire. He should have had a head job. Culture builder.Scunge wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 12:20 amI love this hire.

Wow dude. Get a fucking life. Somehow the Steelers hired one of the best HCs in the league as their linebackers coach and you are spouting off with this bullshit. We should be thrilled that we have this dude on our staff.

Their defense will need to be great with Canda on the other side
Love the hire! This is great news!

This dude sues the Texans for not hiring him, the Texans hired Lovie Smith, along with other teams, maybe he didn't get the job because he's known to be a jagoff, not because of his skin color.

I believe Steelers would only receive comp picks if he's hired as a HC and has been with the team for 2 years. Would be unfortunate if he leaves after 1 year.
