They have a "franchise" RB in Najee the Powerful.

Coach Mike will be sure he gets his carries and that his legs resemble two pummeled bags of rotting flesh by the end of regular season.

Then Najee will be tippy-toeing like a ballet dancer with arthritis and have to get pulled.

"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

Well, the Steelers have committed some resources to a caveman, smash-mouth offense, so it's possible they're going to go a little bit contrarian. It's worked for, say, the Titans, but only up to a point. Seems like a modern-era redux of Cowher Power, the Early Years is what they'd be likely to get out of that model if everything fell right.

Blue collar mentality, tough guy football, regular season wins, playoff appearances and competitive in the North... maybe that's what they're looking at as The Standard.
Funny you mention the Titans.

For the last year or so, that is who I've thought Tomlin wants our O to emulate. Actually, I think he'd prefer a combo of the Titans and Bills, but we're gonna need Mitch to do his best Josh Allen impersonation, and it's why I think he was brought in -- and why Pickett was drafted (not that either will come close, imo).

Tomlin doesn't pay any attention to what other teams are doing. He prefers to be uniquely mediocre.

He typically goes with his gut, avoiding other schemes that work for other successful teams. That can be a lot of work.

Jibbs has been kicked in the face by that mule before.

And yet, he keeps approaching it from the rear.

A forward thinker he is not. Nor does he learn from his mistakes.

Obviously…..

I don't know. He convinced Rooney and Colbert that the playoffs are a lottery, thus escaping accountability for the unprepared slop he's trotted out for the last 10+ years.

Threatening to sneak into the playoffs is good enough. Come into a place like PIT and dupe the braintrust that this should be the standard? Even Master Yoda couldn't pull that off.

That just means he’s a supreme bullshit artist as well as a master wordsmiff.

Dunce hasn’t been able to break himself from Jibbs spell.

It sucked me in for a few years. Until I realized his words and his actions don’t align and that his words have no substance.

Just fancy catch phrases and wordsmiffin.

In that regard he’s best in the league.

At least we are #1 at something.

Yeah, I think I gave up on him about 5-6 years ago.

Then I took note of how dismissive [a.k.a "excuses"] Tomlin is of advanced analytics and prep. He's told us over and over that he just wings strategy and tactics. It's no wonder he gets outworked and outcoached by teams with equal or better talent. And it's never going to change or improve because Tomlin doesn't see any value in putting forth more effort.

If Tomlin is so highly regarded, why isn't anyone hiring ANY of his coaches? The league figured him out years ago because he's stale and predictable. There's nothing special about what he's doing, so that's why no one is hiring his guys to tap into the "secret sauce". There is no secret sauce aside from a well developed line of bullshit.

Spot on the both of you.
