They haven’t been successfully winning those weighty downs. Really all there is to it.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:30 amTomlin has 3 playoff wins in 12 seasons. His defenses allow 42 points per game in the playoffs over the last 4 games, all losses. Any other owner in the league and he’d be gone.
Could Tomlin finally be growing as a coach??

I know they are rich and continue to make a ton of money off the team but at some point you'd think the desire to be a champion would kick back in. I mean how can the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers be satisfied with those horrendous performances on the rare occasion when they actually did make the playoffs? I have to believe any Rooney past or present other than the one currently in charge would be embarrassed. What's wrong with that guy?Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 2:30 amTomlin has 3 playoff wins in 12 seasons. Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
Wow, Tomlin was really pissed over not possessing the ball

I wanted this team to go into halftime with 1 yard total offense so badly.
I really did. So close.

Seriously. He seems to not be affected by this shit.

Didn't he sound weird? It was like he was bored spewing the same crap or maybe tired of it. I don't know but that presser sounded off to me for some reason. Not his usual snappy self. It's always like he enjoys trying to sound like the smartest guy in the room. Not during this one imo.

Never seen him that pissed, especially Wk1.
I don't think he got the extension many feared was coming. His seat may be a lot warmer than anyone knows. Sees the writing on the wall but remains defiant.
Kind of looked like a chess amateur that rolled out what he thought was a brilliant strategy....and lost in 7 moves.

Damn even he sounds bored with slinging the same BS. Sorry about starting this thread. I was trying to lean to the positive. That was an epic failure.

Was anyone really surprised the team came out FLAT like the Mojave desert?
Was anyone really surprised the team came out UNprepared and worse…, unable to acclimate to their opponents strategy to gain any sort of momentum/control?
Was anyone really surprised to see the same old tired retread plays unfold less than UNspectacularly?
Was anyone really surprised to watch an allegedly well prepared, well coached young team shit the bed in full panic mode like biden when he doesn’t know which way to go?
Was everyone anticipating a full on humiliating mortifying curb stomping by the end of 1st quarter?
If you related to any of the above you are a true glutton for punishment and a Die Hard Steelers fan.
We’ve been the Indians in that film too many times, we don’t just live in our fears we exacerbate them.
This was even embarrassing to Raiders fans that called/texted me and all stated the same thing, dude what happened to the Steelers? They look like the Raiders!
To which I responded no way, nothing like the Raiders. Because they have had the same head coach for decades… only 3 Head Coaches in 50+ years… oh wait. What?

Enjoy the season folks…
The 2-3 remaining guys around here that still ball wash Jibbs most definitely watch the NFL talking heads shows and drink that Kool-Aid.
They are being told what to think rather than observing what this turd has been putting on tape and being honest with themselves.
Ya he’s growing as a coach alright…

The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

More like lard ass downs that clog the arteries of victory.
“Being a fan is fine, but there is a line you can cross that makes it really unhealthy,” said Ken Yeager, PhD, a mental health expert in the department of psychiatry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

It’s disturbing how gullible people are. I know plenty of Steelers fans who literally get angry when I suggest that the team move on from Tomlin. Even when you present facts and logic to them, it doesn’t matter. They’ve been told that Tomlin is a top 5 coach in the league by media talking heads and there’s no way of convincing them of anything else. Very disturbing

NHALS = NFL purgatory
A certain segment of society loves this bullshit.
"You know, it's a tough thing to dissect and isolate because so many other things are going on. If you're not winning possession-down play, you're not going to get a true evaluation of a lot of components. If you're not accumulating additional snaps, you're not going to have an opportunity to gain rhythm and develop the personality you desire. The importance of the weighty downs is probably highlighted in my inability to answer that as I sit here."

The 2-3 that constantly blow Tomlin around here are certainly examples of this.
No way they are basing their opinion on what the guy puts on tape.
Can anyone state a si GME thing excels at schematically as a coach?
All he has is “his players like him”.
Ya, they’ll circle the wagons when the precious NHALS is on the line.
How come they don’t show up in playoff games?
Browns smacked us down at home while their HC missed the game.

If this first game caused Coach to create this bullshit it's going to be a long year. I am hoping for a Rod Marinelli or Bobby Ross going insane flameout.
