If you thought Tomlin's press conferences were bad, listen to this

…but the fact there are fans out there that would think this?
There are people that call themselves fans that only watch a handful of games each year. And it's a good bet most of them think Tomlin is a great coach.

It was sort of announced Tomlin is calling the defense. That was a while ago, and most fans don't know that.

That's not in his title though...is he that when there's success, but not when there isn't?

Mike Tomln wouldn't pull that shit would he? I bet he would.

I would love to hear a feed from his headphones.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

There was a clip there that I think was a two TE set where Kozora pointed out four Steelers who missed their assignments.

Which means over half of the available blockers missed.
Regression of the OL has been the biggest disappointment. I thought maybe they got lucky finding Klemm, because the OL really improved last year as the season went on.

Practically the same group and the regression is simply unbelievable. Of course, if the playcalling is really predictable that's going to have a huge impact on performance.
Klemm has been gone for more than a year. Meyer teaches a different technique for blocking with independent hand punching. I am not sure if it will ever be great.

I notice that Canada makes a reference to how good the team looked during camp. I can't remember a season before this when the Steelers coaches and players, Steelers fans, and the Pittsburgh media beat their collective chests so much about how great the Steelers looked in camp and in preseason games.
Who gives a shit that the first-string offense looked good against the second/third string Atlanta Falcons playing vanilla D? Why make a big deal about things like that and act like it's some big accomplishment?

This new emphasis on the preseason reminds me of Redskins/ Commanders and their fans (I live in their territory), who were always so pumped about how great the team looked in the preseason and so shocked and confused when it didn't translate into the regular season. Maybe that's another symptom of the Steelers' slow drift into mediocrity. The team and its fanbase are starting to act like mediocre, irrelevant teams and their fanbases
Remember when we used to laugh at the Stains fans for always winning the off-season?
Used to laugh at the Stains? What has changed?

That's right I meant Meyer.

Point was once they jelled and had time to learn his techniques they seemed to be pretty decent. So the regression doesn't make sense, unless a lot of the improvement last year really was just an illusion from going against teams mailing it while we were BALLS TO THE NHALS!!!!

Most football people will tell you that most OLines don't really start to gel until 4 to 6 weeks into the season. so hopefully we gel closer to 4 weeks than after the bye week.

Win against LV tonight beat HOU next week follow up by beating BAL and suddenly the team is 4-1 heading into the bye and everyone on this board would of taken it.

I get that. But with 4 returning starters from last year's unit, they should have come out of the gate looking much better. So I'll say again, this much regression is as alarming as it is shocking.
