Does Kadarius Toney get released tonight?
Re: Does Kadarius Toney get released tonight?
Comedy or not, the refs usually do warn players not lined up correctly, although when I think about it, they may warn players who are not properly on the line rather than warn those who are in the neutral zone.
Not sure. I do know offensive offsides is rarely called.
But Toney was blatantly offsides.

Whether they warn players or not, Mahomes yelling at the fucking refs after the game instead of Kadarius Toney, would be as dumb as Cool Shades yelling at Rudolph when Trubisky throws a pick in the upcoming game.jeemie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:58 pmComedy or not, the refs usually do warn players not lined up correctly, although when I think about it, they may warn players who are not properly on the line rather than warn those who are in the neutral zone.

And in case anyone is try to claim the NFL does this to fix games…the flag was thrown before Mahomes ever threw the ball…it was thrown immediately.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 2:06 pmWhether they warn players or not, Mahomes yelling at the fucking refs after the game instead of Kadarius Toney, would be as dumb as Cool Shades yelling at Rudolph when Trubisky throws a pick in the upcoming game.jeemie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:58 pmComedy or not, the refs usually do warn players not lined up correctly, although when I think about it, they may warn players who are not properly on the line rather than warn those who are in the neutral zone.

So the officials didn’t know how that play would unfold.
Yes…Toney should be the one who draws Mahomes’ ire…especially since this is now two games he has blown for the Chiefs this year.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Especially considering the unspoken tribute to Frank Wycheck (RIP, literally the same day) and the Music City Miracle, it's seriously sad that play didn't stand.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
I feel like WR is kind of a blind spot for Andy Reid. He just doesn't seem value the position much, asking the QB to cover for a lot of warts. This was true in Philly also when he spent far too much time dicking around with goofs like Todd Pinkson and Freddie Mitchell, among others. Sure, Reid had TO for a couple of years with the Eagles and Tyreek Hill for a few seasons on the Chiefs, but he's mostly getting by with bottom of the roster dudes. Maybe Rachee Rice with develop into something (only to leave after his rookie deal).
Mahomes is pretty clearly going after the side judge that threw the flag

And just for reference, here's the play. Toney is literally lined up AHEAD OF THE CENTER.

The flag was thrown at the snap, so it's not like the officials knew it was going to be an awesome play ahead of time.
Mahomes needs to chill. Things aren't always going to go his way.
Or go bitch out Toney, or Reid who saddled him with this incompetent group of WRs.
There have been some bad calls (our false start on the punt was one- I noticed the Cleveland long snapper did the exact same thing yesterday on a punt, and he wasn't flagged)...this was not a bad call.

This is the only comparable event from Brady's career that I can think of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT7mMnipRYkpickarooney wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 4:08 pmThis has me retrospectively appreciating BB, who never once over his career (that I recall) acted like a screaming, entitled little bitch.
Big difference with the above play is that Brady had an argument. Mahomes does not.
The thing that bothers me the most about the Mahomes play is that he had 3 chances after this penalty to do something and didn't deliver. THEN he had a meltdown and THEN he kept blaming the refs at the press conference....all the while the refs made the 100% correct call.
I agree, and I feel like this is the HUGE distinction. Unlike the Brady play above, the Chiefs/their fans/Mahomes/Reid/etc are not arguing that the refs missed a penalty. They are literally arguing that they should have gotten away with an obvious penalty.
Conversely, imagine Pickens or Austin on the Chiefs. Andy Reid would have either of them putting up pretty big numbers in that Offense.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:18 amDJ would fit in PERFECTLY with the Chiefs WR group.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:16 am
The Steelers should have traded DJ to the Chiefs at the deadline. The Chiefs' WR situation is so dire, we might have gotten a #1 for him.
Mahomes would go bald from ripping his hair out after dealing with Diontae Johnson.
What a colossal waste of talent
Agreed 100% and that's why I personally believe we will see a reset at WR, in a make or break year for Pickett.anpsteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 4:39 pmConversely, imagine Pickens or Austin on the Chiefs. Diontae Johnson has to go. It's really that simple. Tremendous talent, but he's an utter moron who will never change his ways.
Kenny will get a new OC and a new top target at WR, probably very early in this upcoming draft.
,
Obviously Pickett needs to step up his game if he's going to remain the starting QB in Pittsburgh, but giving him a new (hopefully creative) OC cannot be the only change on offense.
Diontae Johnson needs to be traded. Hopefully someone sees enough value to give us maybe a 3rd rounder for Johnson and I would take that in a second. I would also had a nice veteran WR in free agency if that's possible to give Pickett Pickens, rookie stud WR, Austin maybe keep Robinson (we'll see) plus a very good veteran option who can still play.
Time to change shit up at that position.

It was as dumbass move but it was still 2nd and 15 with 1:12 left and 2 timeouts. Go win the fucking game Mr. State Farm.

Do you know how fucking deflating that was and even though the Bills were 6-6, they are a GODDAMN good football team who always plays the Chiefs tight.
Hell, the Chiefs aren't even playing anywhere near their best football right now, but don't worry....come playoff time, Mahomes is going to break some team's hearts this year like he always does.
I just can't believe Toney is still on their roster after that massive fuck up.

The Chiefs have been doing this all season. They're one of the worst 2nd half offenses in the league.
Could very well be that they're sleepwalking through this part of their schedule, but it could also be that roster/coaching turnover are starting to catch up with them.

Agreed.
I mean, that was an UNBELIEVABLE play by Kelce.
.....all for nought because that dumb motherfucker couldn't stand in the same place? Holy shit.
Also, I don't think Mahomes was yelling at any refs. It looked like he was yelling at his own bench and I saw him saw the word "offsides."
As Jeemie pointed out, fucking Toney was CLEARLY....let me emphasize FUCKING CLEARLY in the neutral zone and it wasn't close.
That ain't on the refs in any way, shape or form.
If Mahomes wanted to go off on somebody, he should look no further than Kadarius Toney.

Steelers since Tomlin handle WR personality issues worse than any other team and that has been true since Holmes. Who they OVERreacted to as opposed to the usual pattern of letting things get out of control.

While I’m sure they’d love home playoff games, Reid and Mahomes are far more concerned about getting their dumbass WR’s in line and ready to make another run, which I’m sure they will.

Pacheco was out, Kelce looks injured and their WR room is C or D level.
Mahomes is Mahomes and they got Taylor Swift vibez now but that isn’t going to be enough. Their defense is pretty good but the Chiefs were built to outscore their opponents, not win games 17-14.

Once he saw the actual replay (after the game) I'm guessing he said something to Toney (who is a bona fide idiot -- in football and in life) afterwards. Or maybe he just told Reid he has to go, period.
Yep. Reid's O is built to have at least 2 star skill players (think Kelce & Hill) and a few other very reliable capable guys.Orangesteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 7:46 pmPacheco was out, Kelce looks injured and their WR room is C or D level.

This year they have Kelce (who has been hurt (and a little slower -- age) and even more the major focus of Ds), and they've had to lean more on young, unproven guys like Pacheco and Rice (MVS has not been very good either)...and then, as a last resort, occasionally idiots like Toney.

"That neutral zone infraction was so blatant that four Romulan Warbirds showed up."
It was so blatant Walter Sobchek grabbed his piece from his day bag and yelled "mark it zero, Smokey, that was over the line, this isn't Nam!"

I did not watch my buddies die face down in the muck so that some strumpet could line up offsides and get away with it.
