My best guess is the culprit is Cam Sutton, seems like secondary mid-communication started happening about the time he entered the lineup.
This is precisely who it is and I knew it before you laid out the evidence.

Beanie Bishop hasn’t played at all basically since Sutton came off suspension. Secondary now looks like ASS. Sutton is cooked, he’s terrible, slow, and dumber than a box of rocks. He literally has no idea what he’s doing back there.

A “Tomlin guy” gets the nod over Bishop who has been developing and having a fine rookie season as an undrafted.

Players are pissed. Rightfully so.

Tomlin Kept Canada too long. He had chosen Austin over Flores and chose his boy Sutton over Bishop.

this is not what you want from your team this late into the season.

Coach Mike brought back Sutton even with his whatever the hell he did and then got all shitty when asked about it.

So many decisions made by Coach Mike that fuck the team over.

Yet we persist.

Fitapaldo was leaning towards Minkah! He illustrated his point with Queen saying they knew about the play to the flats and had a signal for it and it was identified during the game, and Minkah still couldn’t stop it and the guy scored. The play before that Minkah was reading and not reacting and it cost us 6-7 yards.
Sutton seems to be the one screwing up the most, but I don't think he'd be worthy of the players starting a whisper campaign and throwing shade at the coaches over.

Minkah would be.

Minkah sits with the defensive coaches, as we see in Hard Knocks.

He's a big name who's not producing the splash plays- some have said it's because of scheme and that's probably partially true, but if he is messing up- I could see the players chirping about this because he appears to be a "protected, favored Tomlin veteran:".

True story. I posted same after Indy loss. I attended Indy game this year. Saturday evening prior to game I had dinner at Burns steakhouse. Who shows up for private reservation but Tomlin, Austin Watt, Cam, Edmonds ( recall they picked him up that week off of waivers), Fitz and Kazee. So rest of team presumably ate at their hotel. Great team building by Tomlin—- separating favorites from rest of team. What the hell happened to team eating together. Presumably most teammates know the Tomlin team class structure. He is not a legit coach

Tomlin loves his yes men and his insulated tower defense. He's such a fraud, almost like a dictator in a sense. This guy sucks, plain and simple, 13 years now, let's get it over with Rooney's you incompetent pretending losers
Tomlin PC 1/14/25 -“‘Stuck’ is a helpless feeling. I don’t feel helpless,” Tomlin said. “I don’t know if I want to sell you an overly optimistic (tone) either.

That's exactly why I guessed it was Minkah a few days ago.

i simply dont think that Cam Heyward would single out one guy to the press that way.he's way to much if a Tomlin guy hell he's The Tomlin guy. walks off the field with him after every game etc. i think the communication is the issue and that that coukd still mean its sutton if he hasnt been takingvthe mental reps all season. but most likely its that on the plays they are giving up big chunks uts 10 guys were where they were s'posed to be and 1 guy wasnt. not that the same 1 guy is the problem but rather all 11 guys arent in the same page or arent sticking to their assignments and freelancing which could be Minkah sometimes in that way trying to do more and being out of assignment when he guesses wrong. its a team problem not an individual guy problem or Cam wouldnt ve said anything to media about it cuz he's too much of a Tomlin guy to do that.

whoever it is - the quotes seem to say the problem is that someone is messing up and arrogantly refusing to acknowledge they need to do better or change.

When you spent much of your week talking about "emotion" and lack attention to details as we have for 15 years, this is the result.

But this starts with Rooney:

1. He allowed Colbert to stay too long and have drafts conducted where we clearly didn't scout the whole nation and his drinking buddies were helping to make pics. We keep drafting for need rather than BPA.

2. He allowed the FO to keep overspending on certain D positions to the detriment of the whole team -- pouring money into assets that don't deliver or are declining. Spending money on declining assets is never a good thing.

3. He's allow Tomlin to conduct his unprofessional slop for 15 years -- big ego, terrible assistants, no attention to detail, no accountability, no creativity. Then he's jerked off to the media singing Tomlin's praises because they so badly want him to succeed even though he isn't capable of being a champion again.
Correct. The biggest problem with the Pittsburgh Steelers is Art Rooney II. He enables Tomlin.

Maybe after say another decade of NHALS the powers that be will feel so sorry for him maybe they decide to send him off with a SB. We get all the calls, all the breaks, etc.

One can dream.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.
