Re: Art II Speaks Some More
I figured out who Art II reminds me of, Perry Como. Barely awake, a zombie. SCTV was awesome.

Art would have to be comatose to exude less energy than he does now.

Mega Props to Langer for the arcane SCTV Perry Como reference. The most underrated show in history. RIP Joe Flaherty, West Mifflin misses you.
Are the new generation of Rooneys more like Sammy Maudlin tho?
For some reason I am craving cabbage rolls and coffee.

You mean Bobby and Skip Bittman? Two incredibly talented brothers who sometimes can't get along, the younger upsetting the older more experienced and entrenched, and more successful might I add, brother who has shared the stage with so many great ACTors. They are both great!
And I really mean that!

In that interview, I did hear the retire question and additional info
Sounds like Art admitted that Dan Jr is involved, and other family members now. (Art) wouldn't retire, but that doesn't mean he won't moving to the 'Emeritus' title. Unfortunately he will still be the end all be all. Lets hope Art and Tomlin say bye bye together.
Rolly Kaboly thinks Art wont be the one to move on from Tomlin. So perhaps Danny Jr is coming sooner not later.

In a few months, the team has turned into a laughingstock to hardcore fans, most of them.
That he's being carted out to blather words as if he was on the Merv Griffen show with a luded out barely conscious and almost drooling inanimate body is not the best look. But they do it anyway.
Someone next in line might want to let this fester longer so they can have a juicy redemption arc with Arch Manning or they can let it fall apart because they don't know any better.

That is some appreciated deep in the weeds SCTV fandom.
So who is Tomlin then? Guy Cabellero? or Count Floyd?

I'd say Bobby Bittman is closest to Tomlin. Maybe Gerry Todd? He definitely coaches like he's running the Ricardo Montalban School of Acting.langer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 11:24 amDan, if I may say something...Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 7:05 amMega Props to Langer for the arcane SCTV Perry Como reference. Johnny LaRue is definitely Ben.

I think of Coach as Rev Jim Ignatowski.
Or Guy Caballero to keep it SCTV. Don Caballero. The guy in charge who has issues with the truth. The SCTV Godfather parody was so awesome. I got to tell Dave Thomas on alt.tv.sctv many years ago that I loved his Bobby Duvall. He captured the slow burn and the explosion. LOL.
Funny synchronicity. There's an older math prog noise band called Don Caballero...from Pittsburgh.

This is brilliant. How did they know George Lucas sounded like that, and that Spielberg was such a dick.

Strange Brew is the best film adaptation of Hamlet out there. Fight me.
Great that they got Max Von Sydow to sign on.
That movie was very hard to rent or find on streaming for a long time. Same with The Last Polka which I think was a HBO movie.
From wiki:
Cancelled sequel
A sequel to the film, entitled Home Brew, was planned for production in 1999, but financing fell through at the last minute. Co-written by Dave Thomas and Paul Flaherty, the film was to be directed by Flaherty, and Dan Aykroyd was on board to play the part of friend Rick Ripple. Principal photography was to begin on July 19, 1999 in Toronto. At one point, Todd McFarlane was to step in as executive producer to revive financing for the film, but never followed through.[15]
The plot, according to a Maple Palm (Dave Thomas's production company) release, would feature Bob and Doug, now working as garbage men, being convinced by a fast-talking insurance salesman (Aykroyd) to get into the microbrewing business
Also I am very suspicious that Led Zeppelin plagiarized LInsk Minyak. What can be said about him that hasn't already been said?
