I agre about two things here the AR played like a scared guy. The other if 95 get and early sack it would e a different outcome.

I was skeptical of signing AR from the beginning. Not doubting his talent but just not a good fit for "Tomlin Ball." He's a front runner who likes to put up points early and often. As we are all painfully aware, Mikey T loves attrition football which often results in the need to score late... often more than just a single score.

Per Pro Football Reference

Rogers has 24 Fourth Quarter Comebacks (9.1%), 36 Game-Winning Drives i)13.6%)n 263 games.

On the other hand, Ben was built to deal with Tomlin's style having 41 Fourth Quarter Comebacks (16.4%), 53 Game-Winning Drives (21.2%) in 249 games.

While AR does have some combacks this year,he's not an ideal fit for how Tomlin, Smith and Austin call games.

In the rare instances where we score early (not more than 7 in the 1st quarter.... Obviously :( ) , Tomlin goes in turtle mode instead of putting more distance between the Steelers and their opponents. That results in games that are way too close in.the 4th Q and often means the Steelers need to score late to preserve the win or come from behind.

Sadly Tomlin loves it that way but doesn't really have the personnel to be counted on to score.

AR played scared yesterday and that a good sign for your starting QB. I don’t think I ever seen Big Ben played scared.

i think it was a combo play and a perfectly bad storm

tomlin wanted to play super safe
rodgers doesn't want to get hit
they agreed on a poor course of action

i have noticed rodgers seems to getting a little more tentative about getting hit since the wrist and in the cold

Neither deserve to be back next year.

I think I'll explore an element others here have touched on, but not to the extent that I believe we should.

Tomlin does want to win games this way even against the dregs of the league so for him he did his job. Put guys into a position to make a few plays here or there than they just didn't in order to swing the game. He doesn't view it as a 3 win team with a rookie QB they should have boat raced.

This is exactly how he expected this game to play out. Low scoring, his offense playing low risk ball to minimize Garrett (and yes, prevent him from setting the record against them), and having a chance to win it in the 4th. The players failed. He'll tip his hat to the Browns and move on knowing he has a must win game next week/still control their fate.

It's disgraceful, but that's Tomlin to the letter.

It’s making sense that the Rooney were forced to hire this guy and keep him in there for decades by NFLHQ.

He has setback coaching.

What the hell does he actually do to be honest?
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

I'm convinced that the "I thought we played well" comment, was Tomlin's way of absolving himself and the game plan from criticism.

He was in essence saying, they did what we wanted them to do.

From an Xs and Os perspective, he's such a terrible coach

he was speaking in the terms of 'my defense' played well, but.....he thinks the whole collective is not his when HE's the Head Coach

I bet Tomlin believes the tortoise can actually beat the hare....because he read it in a children's book once.

If Tomlin was a race car driver, he'd always start in the back and then wait for others to crash out to move up.
