But they will cut him because they gave him every chance and they don't keep guys who quit on the team like that. And you can't argue with that approach. I bet plenty of players on the team feel very let down/quit on and probably want him gone.

Otherwise he could be a distraction at this point. And maybe being cut is the last chance he has - go live in a monastery for a year far, far away from weed and pray someone gives you one more shot. He's going to really feel just how much money he smoked away this year.
