I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah I get it, the problem is whose hat? The best thing the Pens can do is continue to whoop their ass on the scoreboard.

Oh and Flower is in their heads. I saw some BJ's post game player interviews. Werenski especially you could tell was starting to wonder whether Flower was beatable. If you'd have told me that before the playoffs started I'd have eaten every hat I own.

Agreed.

I don't think Sullivan wants to change the dynamic(s) he and the Pens are enjoying right now. I agree with Brasco that a suspension would force Torts into change-and I for one don't want to see that.
Dressing Sestito sends a message to Columbus that the Pens will muck it up with them. It also sends a message to the Pens that the coaches may not think the current players can take care of themselves. I think that Sullivan believes his current roster(game 1&2) can get it done and take care of themselves.
And I wouldn't mess with the current dynamic the Pens are enjoying right now. Maybe, if the Pens win game 3 I might dress Sestito but who to sit is a tough decision.

Speaking of Torts, it has to be killing him that Sullivan isn't trying to get Crosby away from Dubinsky. Sullivan in essence is telling fuckface that Crosby and the top line can put up with all the crap the Jackets employ and there is little they can do about it.

As much as I think Calvert needs to suspended I would rather the refs call the game fairly. It is one thing to let them play but don't call ticky tack penalties late in the second or third periods when they turned away from the same stuff earlier.

The refs in this series have been awful.

Pens wouldn't and shouldn't do this

No sense getting sucked into this nonsense and it's not their game at all. Play to your strengths... It's gotten you this far and it worked last year

There's no way Sestito plays

the cross check wasn't that big a deal

they ran after our 4th line winger - who didn't even get hurt

It's a suspendable action, of course, and I fully expect a suspension, but it's not worth a retaliation by us a la Sestito

If they start running at Geno and Sid, on the other hand, then we could see Sestito -

But that's not what's happened here -- Columbus is just frustrated that they are getting manhandled, and Calvert was trying to "send a message" -- for that, he should get a 2 game vacation -- but we won't retaliate

Thanks for posting this -- I hadn't seen it yet

That's the right call -- 1 game is sufficient.

I knew a suspension was coming --no brainer

Agreed. Only reason I think they gave him a game was the hit to the head after the crosscheck, though.

Yeah I agree the crosscheck alone in playoff hockey he may have skated (pun intended). The second shot sealed the deal.

I was saying I didn't expect a suspension because the NHL is a garbage league.

He did.

100% agreed -- and it's still a garbage league --

NHL refuses to clean up its game for some reason --

it literally makes no sense, given the shitty TV ratings, which are still declining --

You'd think they would try to change the league, the way the NBA and NFL have done, to take away the thuggery and promote offense.

The rangers have made the playoffs the last two years, that I can remember, and I've not seen one of their games on tv in NYC either year. Even game seven. Nothing.

Love the game, but they way the run is mind boggling. In all honesty, that suspension should have probably been 2-4 games. But I fully expected them to fine him and let him be on his merry way. And when some of the media were reporting that's what was likely to happen, I was surprised at all.
