One of the things the lawyer pointed out, in one of his FIVE fucking articles he's already posted about this, is that it's unlikely because not only is Ben walking away from like $17 mil a year, he'd have to return even more than that in signing bonus. So although I suppose it's possible, I can't take it all that seriously.

Perhaps it's Ben's version to Tomlin of a shot across the bough. Fix the dumb shit or I walk.

From Ben's perspective, better to leave a year too early and still be able to walk. I get it. How much money could his kids possibly need? They are already set for life if Ben chooses.

(And yeah, he's a drama king.)

Ben is not retiring, nor did it even sound like he was if you heard his tone in the interview. He basically gave the canned athlete answer of 'I have to think about my future and pray on it'. This was after specifically talking about things for next season for fifteen minutes. Players are beat up and emotional after a season, give them a few weeks and they're ready to get back at it.

This whole comment ought to fill up a lot of articles and airwaves for nothing though.

I think Ben returns but this is the result of two things, IN MY OPINION.

1. Ben is and has always been a drama queen. Many many hits he limps and waddles off the field grimacing but always makes it back out. This is part of the persona. Ben lovers this is not a personal slight.

2. I think one of his short comings is he is inherently lazy. Not a criticism but an observation based on seeing him way over weight in season (this off season he absolutely came into camp in great shape, compared to other years) and seeming to not always have the mental part of the game down. Why will we never catch a team subbing with a quick snap ala Rogers and Brady

I think right now the last thing he wants to do is start working at next season and it is a bit daunting.

Wait a minute, an example of Ben being lazy is that he's never caught a defense in a quick snap?

What about when Bart Scott knocked Ben into the following Tuesday? Was he dramatic then?

Bart Scott hit fine, but how many dozens of times does he limp around like he is hurt but gets right back at it. Many guys here have called him a drama queen. You love him unconditionally thats fine, I see his warts and he has some. The quick snap thing is to me a guy who is immediately ready cause he prepared like a mofo and is already getting the team set up while the ball is being retrieved by the ref's. Ball placed and they are over it and he is ready to go get defense on heels catch teams in substitution mode. This is if they are in no huddle mode and he is calling the plays. Maybe not the best example but I just dont think he studies super hard. I dont think he has a great work ethic his conditioning, his movement on the field pre snap shows a guy who does enough pre work to get by and depends on his exceptional athleticism. So far the formula has worked for the most part, but when the body and mind slow down, you need to work harder and harder to stay in the same spot. Not sure he digs the thought of cranking up the work part.
