I haven't seen Joshua Dobbs take one snap, and I'll bet dollars to donuts he's the starter before the handoff monkey if Ben retires.

Still going to need a LOT of help.

Of course.

I don't believe we've seen the best of Landry Jones. Sometimes, a backup QB looks (performs) like the starter, but sometimes the backup and the starter have very little in common. Roger Staubach - Danny White were similar to me. Montana - Young were similar (no, not carbon copies), but the 2 pairings had skills in common that allowed a decent transition from one QB to the other. Landry and Ben don't appear to have anything in common. Things they do have in common: the need for a game-plan catered to their strengths, good weapons who catch the ball when it's in reach, and a defense that doesn't constantly put the game in their hands. Dobbs seems to have more traits in common with Ben like mobility and strength in the pocket or on the move. As it stands right now, the Steelers have AB, Bryant, & everyone else. Whoever is behind center has a chance to succeed.

I'm just glad Martavis is back, hoping he can hang on. He will make success a little easier for everyone in the WR rotation. The odds are against him, but things that I have heard about him lately make me hopeful for him. Go Steelers!

I'm holding out hope that Laundry is NOT the heir apparent.

Gotta be kidding thinking he is gonna lead the offense.

I nominate STD for QB......instant upgrade.

Who ever said Landry is the heir apparent? He is a cheap #2 at best.

Unless Dobbs blows up there is not an heir apparent to Ben on the roster.

Landry is a transition guy. He'll stay on the roster when BR retires and act as #1 until they find someone who can. Dobbs has shown jack shit. Hasn't even played an NFL snap and he's already jumping Jones for #2? I don't think he's the guy, but who knows.Maybe he supplants Jones in the next year or two.

Anybody want to do a two or three year projection mock draft to see what QB will be available in 2019 or 2020 and beyond? If we all get what we want, it's not like the steelers will be in any position to draft a franchise QB.

I would give any of the 3 Carolina backups or Denver's #4 a better shot at winning games with a good Steelers team than will Laundry Jones.

Can you imagine how bad he would look if he didn't play behind a top 5 o-line and playing wih our skill players when he has been asked to step in? Dude can throw a slant behind Martavis Bryant and end up getting credit for an 80+ yard TD like against the Cardinals.

Hopefully Dobbs surprises and is a quick study. But I think the successor for Ben is a draft or two away.

Sneaky. aren't you? Chad Kelly has a ton of talent, but he also has a ton of character and injury concerns. I think he's gonna get those things in check and help a team win someday.

What are the chances of landing any other QB on the market? On other teams?

I should have said Denver's #3 (Sloter), but Kelly fits the narrative, also.
