Fair enough but I will be watching intently how many times and how accurate his long throws will be over the next 3 games. If there is no improvement particularly in accuracy than its time to cut bait. He will be 40 next year and improvement is unlikely and it will be time to reboot the offense. If we keep the majority of that defense together with some new young talent sprinkled in no reason we cant be competitive while the offense restructures.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 4:10 pmWhat you seek will not happen with 2.2 second release average. That 2.2 seconds seems to be OC philosophy so I don’t know if you can blame Ben. This is a huge mill stone on the offense.
If Ben does not have the physical ability to throw the deep ball anymore its over.
Being able to do what Mahomes did yesterday rolling left keeping a play alive and throwing a 50 plus yard dime to Hill on the run is hard to defend and leagues ahead of what is in our arsenal.
Need to start a new philosophy with max protect intermingled with the small ball. That is the only way to loosen the defenses perched like gargoyles in the box.

Don’t watch the deep balls too closely. If they are being thrown in the framework of 2.2 second releases, he has to put a higher trajectory on the throws so the WRs have enough time to get deep and under them, and that to me explains why his accuracy is down.stinger8 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 4:22 pmFair enough but I will be watching intently how many times and how accurate his long throws will be over the next 3 games. I don't agree with this at all. Great QBs try to put the ball where their receivers have the best chance to catch it. A ball placed where a receiver is going to get clobbered makes less likely they hold the ball. I'm 1000% certain Manning and Brady often intentionally threw balls a little behind their receivers for the same reason Ben did. It was just awful read. He didn't see that it was going to get jumped.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 6:13 amThere's nothing to read into. Ben placed the ball where neither Brady nor Manning ever would because he was trying to protect his receiver.Stillchest wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 6:08 amBen also, stated the pick was “110% on him .”
Not sure, why posters are reading into Ben’s comments?!
Not an excuse it's a simple fact. Doesn't absolve Ben of blame, although maybe if he was a little less concerned for JuJu's health that wouldn't have been a pick-6.

Very sorry to hear this. We to have been unwilling partners in the Covid 19 friends and family it gives and it keeps fucking giving plan. Football is at the bottom of the what matters list. I hope you have a complete recovery.K_C_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:46 pmNah, actually I'm not upset one tiny bit and I'll tell you why.Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 12:50 pmI bet it upsets you a little. I'm a little upset and I've been saying this is a one and done team every game following the Bengals win.
Bigger picture.
2 weeks ago I started coughing a tiny bit and the next day had a fever. Had 2 Rona tests. Rapid said I was positive. PCR said I was negative. Had that fever for 11 days (and it was pretty damn high).
Frankly, I'm still not sure if what I had was Coronavirus (I'm getting another PCR test in 90 minutes), but I can assure you that after the last 2 weeks, I couldn't give a flying fuck if the Steelers lose out.

This. You nailed it Kodiak. Ben is a pretty simple and easy-to-analyze guy.Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 5:39 amI haven't seen it, either, but I know Ben the cheerleader....he thinks saying this is what leadership is, because he's never been a natural leader or one to embrace it.Greeksteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 5:35 amI havent seen the clip, but i wonder if this is Ben taking the blame for drops and "us sucking" or if he really means it.
He doesn't believe it, and I'm sure he'll call people out behind closed doors. That said, when he DID criticize people a few years ago he got a ton of flack. He just can't win with the media.
