Re: Blount to Pats
Seems like everyone here is eager to see what RB Josh Harris can do. Ive been doing a little reading online and everything ive read says we probably wont even find out as Harris the 3rd string RB. We are go either going to A) Run the wheels off Bell or B) Give some significant carries to 170lb rb Dri Archer. Yikes.

Yeah odd. My thing is Bells performance was like a lot like a no hitter. At the end of the 3rd I think he was at 145 and you kinda hoped that he could get to 200. Its like getting to the 7th and figuring he's got enough to get there but only if the guys supporting him holds up. But you have to be there for your guy- your best friend-- during all of that.

Well the positive thing about Nick the past couple of days is he hasn't been harping about throwing the ball on 99% of plays called. But now a couple of bad things: One, he'll now go on for months or years about Blount being cut and two, ignore doesn't work very well here, with the way people quote other posts.

Basically, cutting Blount was like preemptively removing pre-cancerous cells before they actually form into a malignant tumor.
They spotted a problem weeks if not months ago and decided to do something about it.
Not happy or pissed. I certainly saw the value of having a Blount on our team, but I also know that team chemistry is critical to any team who desires to be successful. Having players come out and say it was the right thing to do ... is probably a good sign that some wanted him gone.
Moves like this can galvanize a team. I'm on-board. We move forward.

Great post, and pretty much exactly where i'm at. Do I like the fact that they cut Blount? Nope, but they felt it needed to be done and if its for the better of the team, I'm on board with their decision.
My take, FWIW. . .
Belichick probably knew what the cancer was, and put a dollar amount to it. Steelers provided more money and Blount went with more money.
Now, Belichick has the same player for probably less that the dollar amount he put on him at the end of last year. Blount likely learned his lesson in Pittsburgh and will probably keep his mouth shut to insure a paycheck. Win Win in Belichicks book. Win win for Blount - at least for the remainder of this season.
As far as stealing the playbook, same old same old. This shit happens every time players change teams. Plays are run through formations everybody already knows, so whatever wrinkle Blount knew now will be long gone come playoff time. Maybe if they were playing next week. . .
Also, this has been brewing for weeks, and like I've already said, it's probably already been addressed with no change, so as Bell said : he pushed buttons and wouldn't stop. It wasn't because of asking for the ball or walking out. I would venture a guess and say he probably challenged authority and questioned publicly what the coaches were doing with a few insults sprinkled in for good measure.
Tell me something Nick, have you ever been fired for what you thought was a bogus reason? You seem to take this very personally, repeating your opinion relentlessly that personal issues or how they affect the "team" should be ignored. They plainly cannot. Personalities and how they interact totally influence and inform production. Belichick hasn't been as successful as you might think with outcasts. Look at Albert Haynesworth, Hernandez - and Moss didn't last long either. How many championships have they won with those guys?

I'm shocked how dumb some people are acting in this thread.
How are people saying this WAS NOT the right move?
This guy didn't JUST walk off the field before the game was over Monday, which is an embarrassment to him. He has been a cancer for more than a month now. His carries have slowly diminished and he's sore about it. From multiple Steelers we have now heard comments like "blessing in disguise", "you're either with us or you're not" and some others...
I cannot believe anybody who actually thinks that professional athletes should be able to get away with this shit.

I got to the other board just as computer jumpstar was on his way out- I think after a many years and a long line of pretenders to the throne- we might have our replacement. If CJ was Bradshaw of the WTF posts - Im thinking that Detmer might be Ben.

Exactly --
The problems began in training camp with his almost fight with Porter
Then the arrest for smokin dope before the game
And now quitting the game before it was over (!!!)
This is the shit WE KNOW ABOUT -- I'm sure there's a lot of other shit we don't know about
I loved the guys size and punishing running ability, but he was ultimately a detriment to the team with his attitude and antics.
Cutting the cancer out was the only way to go

So the Steelers DO dump a guy with no remorse or consideration for what he did for them, and Nick has a fit.

Yinzers love CUTTING the CANCER, they take such great pride in beating down anybody that doesn't suck up to their ideas! It is true, Yinzers would gladly lose to show moral superiority! Amazing how many "Cut Ben the Rapist and finish the Job" posts are interspersed with the over the top celebration over cutting a good #2 RB in the middle of a playoff run with no viable back up.
Ben was accused of something he didn't do and wasn't even charged with -- had zero effect on the team or his teammates
Blount has been a continuous problem since he arrived here -- fighting with Porter in pre-season, not listening to coaches or following orders, getting high before a game, and now quitting during a game.
His repeated stupid behavior impacts THE TEAM -- has NOTHING AT ALL to do with morality.
I thought anyone could see the difference
Once again...quitting on your teammates is the unforgivable sin. Anyone that has played a team sport, at any level, knows this. I'm celebrating this move, a high five to Tomlin for stepping up.
Blount was a BACKUP runningback... he can, and will be replaced. If the Steelers fail to make the post season, it won't be because LeCheech is no longer around.
Everyone relax!

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar or odd) use of language are frequently reported

Nick doesn't take things like human emotion into account. It's always about the bottom line with him. Players are not Madden characters.

Interesting Video & pics of Blount on Steeler Depot. Probably looks worse than it is, BUT it is pretty convincing.
Would be funny that an adult would act like that if true. No wonder Blount is Nick's hero!

Who CARES if one of your players pushes down one of your coaches! Who cares if one of your players pushes down ALL of your coaches! Who cares if one of your players pushes down all of your coaches every SINGLE game! You'd have to be a MORON with some kind of STUPID YINZER MORALITY to cut a guy just because he pushed down one of your coaches! You should KEEP a player like that and IGNORE that he likes to push down coaches!

As the hour glass turns...
Ever think he doesn't hate everyone in the Steelers organization, & was trying to push him out of the way of a car wreck? What is it with Yinzer's assuming he worst about people? Seems like everyone that isn't saint lke has to be portrayed as a villain. Blount didn't work out, I'm over it.
This creates more dead cap space next season for his signing bonus correct? That's really the only thing that will piss me off about this, other than the fact that we have to count on Archer to contribute, something he hasn't shown the ability to do yet.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Interesting interpretation, but that's not what I'm seeing in that video since Brown and McCourty were pretty well stopped with Haley in little to no danger of being hit by the time Blount pushes him.

That didnt looked good at all. Though it may be the most movement Blount has gotten in short yardage in recent weeks.
