Hope so. But until he steps on the field we won't know. The official word, from PIT or Leveon twitter, is going to be something along the lines of "ready". Playoff time, and at this point just no one is going to say he's out. I give it 50/50 he plays again this year (call it 20% per game).

Reality is, nobody knows right now. Let's hope for minimal swelling and see what happens,
Disgusted that he got hurt now, when we couldn't afford him to. Bush league tackle to Bell, who wasn't even looking. Hopefully Green misses any game that Bell does. An eye for an eye, if you will. It was a legal but unnecessary hit, not a good form tackle.

IF Bell can't go we really get a chance to see just how good this OLine is. Believe!

Because our only options are Archer, Harris & Will Johnson.
They aren't going to sign Ray Rice. Anyone who thinks that or wants that is a complete moron.
Also, Riddle of Steel has been wrong in EVERY single one of his ridiculous predictions this season.
Yeah, it was actually annoying those who right away came up with his name to possibly replace Bell.

I've hyperextended my knee a couple of times without ligament injury-- first time it was so painful I thought for sure I'd torn something... hell, it was more painful than the partial tear to all three ligaments I had in the other knee.

Yep. Ray Rice can't be anywhere near game ready at this point. Give me the guys who have been actively playing football the past 4 months. They'll give us a better chance than Ray Rice will coming off a suspension and a season where he average less than 3.5 YPC.

How is this already known? Do they have an MRI machine in the lockeroom?

was kind of weird tackle.............
leading with forearm to the knee.........as opposed to both arms out in wrapping up form.......
that being said..........game is played 100 mph..........and it was a bang bang play.

So much for free speech...
WITH Bell and Blount, the running game was non-existent last time. But both softened up the Ratbirds just slamming into them for 1-3 yards a pop (particularly Blount). It had an effect over the game. Yet Ben still didn't have all day to throw like at Indy. He played a game for the ages with guys draped all over him.
No Blount....maybe no Bell....a cagey Ratbird team with tons of playoff experience vs. a Steelers crew where most might be playing their first post-season game. Haley better dial up a doozy.

I wonder that Will Johnson can't do a bit of smashing. We know he has talent and we know he can catch the ball on check downs.

I think all are breathing a sigh of relief that this is probably true. But whether he'll be fine in even three weeks is what is worrisome. Hard to burbs he'll be 100% before the date of the SB.
But Harris may damn well step up more than we expect. Not near as good as Bell, but good enough to spoil Baltimore's probable expectations that there is nothing to fear in the run game. Harris looked pretty damn explosive on that 60 yard run.

Exactly Lit. And what film does the rats have on Harris that they can see running/blocking/catching tendencies overall capability? They don't. Harris showed he has wheels last night but that was about it. So the rats may have a big surprise coming and Harris could very well have his NFL coming out party Saturday. SBI

Let's be honest with ourselves for a minute. When Bell went down everyone thought the playoffs were over immediately. Nobody is confident going in with Archer and Harris
Nobody would feel that way to that extent if Martavis Bryant went down

Certainly the offense seems much better with Bell in the line up. I was not one of the posters in the game thread claiming (prematurely) the playoffs are lost. I look at it like they've won before without Bell they can win again. It is a heavy blow to the offense yes. Can they, will they overcome the loss if Bell is unable to play Saturday? I think they are very capable and they damn well better.

If the knee is in tact, that is a blessing. For me, the real question will then become his mental state. How hard will he run on that knee after what happened? Will he be tentative? I guess a tentative Bell is still better than no Bell, but this is a big blow to us over the next couple weeks.
If Marty Bryant went down, I actually think the impact to the offense would be more than you think. Certainly not to the level of Bell's loss. But, this offense changes when he is in. They didn't really get going last night until Bryant got more playing time. No coincidence. Bryant kept stretching those safeties and it gave Wheaton and Miller lots of room in the middle. In fact, Bryant beat guys deep (with safety help) on two occasions and Ben under threw him once and overthrew him the other time.
If Ben's timing with his receivers last night was better, that game would have been blown open. With no Bell or a limited Bell, we have to come out and pick on the Baltimore corners early and often. The Baltimore pass rush can get home so we have to really loosen them up with quick stuff and screens.
Get well soon Le'veon.

What's your point? A lot of us still feel gloomy. Get by Baltimore, maybe. But after that without Bell?
And had AB, who is the #1 as Bell was the #1, gone down, there would be as much if not more moping.

Been asking for the PS to get Harris 6-10 snaps and 2-4 carries for a few weeks now.........specifically because...you never know moments like last night. The best emergency plan is to be prepared.
Silly that they could not do that.....and now it may come back and bite them.
I don't think anyone of us thought when we started the season that Lev Bell would be going full games with out missing a single snap.
I don't think there is another back in football that comes close to logging the number of snaps this kid did.
I did not think the season was over on that Bell injury.............dampened my spirits. Seeing his foot slide on the grass on the replay gave me hope of a better diagnosis.
The order of season over injury for this team on the offense side of the ball................certainlt starts with the big three....and is most likely.
Ben
Bell
AB
Before it moves down to other players........i.e. Pouncey, Decastro, Heath, Bryant, Wheaton.......
Tho do not under estimate the impact Bryant has had on this offense. Things exploded when he entered the picture.
8 TD's in 25 touches.............wow.
Having him on the field more....will help us run the ball better.

Yes. I don't know what other teams do, but Steelers rely entirely on practice to see what they have in depth. As soon as Blount shipped out, Harris should have been spelling Bell IMO. Now we get the thrill of the unknown.

True Lit.......
can't understand why it takes so long for the PS to get a player involved......while some others are thrown right into the mix....... Archer as just one example.
And i am not talking about getting involved as a major part of the offense.....i am talking 6-10 snaps....2-4 carries
that Titans game when Blount walked off....seems like forever ago.
Harris was on the practice squad for some time.....all season.
Then the Steelers had the bye week to get him up to speed a little more....
Then New Orleans, Cincy, Atlanta, KC, Cincy games to get this kid some carries..........experience, timing etc.

Bell is a great player and weapon, but his value as a blocker might be just as big as his contributions as a receiver.
Actually think Josh Harris just needs to hang on to the ball and get a few yards. OL needs to blow open some holes for him. I think Ben and the passing game can carry the offense without Bell's running. The issue is Wheaton, and probably Miller and Moore, need to pick-up the slack receiving and blitz pick-up that Bell was so good at.
We got less than 60 yards per game running in the 2008 AFCC or SB.
The big question for me is who will step-up on the blitz/pass pro, and are Bryant and Wheaton ready to put on their big-boy pants and carry more of the burden?

Yup. SIX (6) weeks.

I'm with you. With Bell sidelined, the oline has to open some bona fide running lanes. Harris has the speed to be dangerous. We can get by the Rats if the other units elevate to compensate. But after that? IDK how we continue winning without Bell.
