Sorry meant if we tie, so 10-6. Looks like we would get tie breaker

No...that's where the scenario generator is broken.
If both finish at 10-6, the Ravens win via tiebreaker.
Either they'll beat us to hand us our 6th loss, and win via a 2-0 head to head record, or we'll hand them their 6th loss...but our 6th loss will them come from one of our common opponents with them, while they would win their remaining three games against common opponents. Currently, we're both 5-4 against common opponents, so that means we'd finish 7-5 against them, and they'd finish 8-4.

Damn.
I vote winning out then.

Winning out is best.
Besides us, the Ravens play the Pats, Eagles, and Bengals.
They always play the Pats tough, but even if they lose to the Pats, it doesn't matter if we then lose to Baltimore again.
The Eagles are dead and the Bungles are dying. Likely no help there.
We need to win out.

Easiest way to win a division is to have the best overall record in said division.
We can handle that by beating Baltimore ourselves.
But a little wiggle room wouldn't hurt.

Wiggle room won't help unless you think they're going to drop a game to either Philadelphia or Cincinnati as well as New England...for the reasons I explained above.
There's no way we can win the division finished tied with them at 10-6. We can't win the division tied with them at either 10-6 or 9-7, for that matter. They win the common opponents tiebreaker in both cases (or the head to head tiebreaker).
Sean Davis committing that personal foul in the Dallas game took away whatever wiggle room we may have had.

We take care of our business no need to worry about anything else plain and simple.
Don't think you are right Jeems. If the steelers drop any non-Baltimore game AND Baltimore drops a game against say the Pats, then Steelers are in the playoffs.
Wiggle room does help.

Exactly. For example...If the Pats beat Rats, Steelers would then have the "wiggle room" to drop one of their non Baltimore games and still win the division with better overall record.

We won't be tied if that happens because we'll have to beat Baltimore, dropping the Ravens to 9-7.
Because if we don't beat Baltimore, the Ravens will own the head to head tiebreaker.
Of course, that is wiggle room, on second thought because we could then clinch the division by beating Baltimore on Christmas, so OK then. Root for the Pats to win.
My brain got wrapped up in tie scenarios.

It's entirely possible that a Rats loss to the Pats and Steelers wins over Buf, Cin, & Bal will mean a mini bye in week 17 (no chance to move up or down in the seedings)

Assuming NE takes care of BAL, we need to beat BUF because that CIN game has to scare you - on the road against a bad team with nothing to play for except payback for last year's WC game.

what's everyone's thoughts on Colts vs. Texans for AFC South preference? we'd have the seeding advantage over the former if we win our respective divisions, but that will likely be true vs. the Texans also (though it's not as ironclad), and i'm not sure i'd want a rematch against a healthy Andy Luck in the playoffs.
shit, either team will probably be out in the WC round.

good research on the tiebreakers, Kodiak and Jeemie
but boy, was i happy in my ignorant notion that we could afford to drop next week's game

And I have a feeling it's going to be tough to win seven in a row. The most a Tomlin-coached team has ever won in a row is five. We're due to drop one somewhere. It's tough to win seven in a row in the NFL, period.
Best not be the Buffalo game. The Ravens play at New England Monday night, so they have the luxury of knowing how our game went. If they see we have lost, they'll be extra motivated to seize control of their own playoff fate.
Luckily the Pats are in a fight for homefield, so I doubt they'll put that at risk and tank just to severely damage the Steelers' playoff hopes.

If Baltimore beats NE, Beth will tell us NE lost on purpose in an attempt to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs

Well that would make sense, since the Pats have so many reasons to fear the Steelers.
At one point last year it crossed my mind. That was last year. No way in fucking hell Belichick drops this home game against the rats on purpose.Luca Brasi wrote:If Baltimore beats NE, Beth will tell us NE lost on purpose in an attempt to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs
Either way, I think the NFL wants that division deciding, hated rivals game on christmas day. I can see the advertising dollars rack up as the weeks go by.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

It will be a clinching game if one of the following is true on Christmas Day at kickoff:
Steelers and Ravens are tied...then a Ravens' win gives the division to Baltimore.
One team is one game behind the other...if the team that's a game in front wins, they win the division
If the Ravens are two games behind the Steelers- then a Steeler win clinches the division for Pittsburgh
There is no way for it to be a true "winner takes the division" game...not with another game to play.

The best hope for this season is: end up on the other side of the bracket from NE. If NE wins the #1 seed, be the #2 or #3 seed. Hope that KC or Oakland wins that #4 vs #5 game and then goes to NE and kicks their asses. Steelers TCB and end up with a home AFCCG. This team, right now, is so much better at home.

Rats have had massive slices of good fortune: got to face Bills when they were a royal mess, Jags without half their oline, Ben in his usual 1st game back routine, Bengals sans Green, Pats sans Gronk, Fins without 3 oline starters and now Iggles with Matthews and Lane Johnson. Frustrating.

I missed that- the Dolphins were missing three o-linemen on Sunday?
When did that happen again?
PS Wow I hadn't been paying much attention to them since they beat Pittsburgh.
Pats have been doing just fine w/o Gronk though...and they have the game at Foxboro.

Oops got that wrong, only Pouncey was out for Fins (read inactive report from wrong game my bad).

Right...I'm sure the Pats are used too, probably even comfortable playing without Gronk by now. The guy misses a lot of games.

They've done fine without him in the regular season, 15-5, but they've missed him in the playoffs: 7-3 with, 1-2 without.

So if there's a time to get into the playoffs and have to face the Pats, it would be this year?

Ravens have no business beating NE in NE, but that would be a totally Harbaugh thing to do.
Their defense looks good, their no names on offense are starting to produce, and Flacco isn't making Flacco type mistakes.
How bad does NE miss Collins? Me thinks a lot.

Flacco played a good game against the Dolphins, but that has been the exception this year not the rule. They just aren't that explosive on offense, and I know I am in the minority, but I think their defense is overrated.
We will see Monday night. If they go in there and beat the Pats, I will be more of a believer.

It really is amazing that we haven't seen them in the playoffs since 2004.
