JuJu Suspended
Re: JuJu Suspended
I love JuJu and I LOVE the fact her nearly killed Burfict, but it SURE looked like he hit Burfict helmet-to-helmet.

NFL suspends JuJu Smith-Schuster and George Iloka one game for their hits in Monday night’s game. League taking strong stance on Smith-Schuster, whose hit was deemed legal but the taunt was over the top.

Given your eye condition, I understand your inability to see.
Joking aside, JuJu’s principal point of contact was shoulder to shoulder; there was subsequent h2h. That could draw a flag but far from suspendable. As for taunting...I’ve seen step over numerous times.
He got suspended because Gruden got into a rage about his fuckboy being hit hard.

To clarity: League didn’t seem hit legal, but could argue this was not hit on defenseless player and was clean (though vicious) as a football act, minus taunting or incidental helmet contact
What is it with this fascination with glorifying the criminal element of the NFL.

So taunting is a one game suspension now?!?!
So NFL has to review every play all season and hand out a bunch of suspensions.

Not likely. Maybe if Rooney made a stink but that’s not likely either. It’s more probable that Rooney can be heard shouting “thank you sir may I have another” right about now.
I thought the penalty was bullshit.
I thought the taunting was selfish & immature. Knock the dude out and be on with your business. They will flag you every time for that. Had the refs let the hit slide, the taunting alone would have taken the 1st down off the board. Our players need to be smarter.
I knew this shell of its former self league was going to suspend him as soon as it happened last night so not Siri send at all today. Par for the course with these idiots. And moving forward a new tool to be used to further manipulate outcomes.

The dumbest part of this is that neither would be suspended if Shazier knew how to tackle. Him injuring himself put a cloud over the whole game. That aside, one crack back block and one head shot made this “the dirtiest game of the year”. People are emotionally stupid and can’t separate or compartimentalize things very well. Two illegal hits all game long, which is probably an average NFL game. Gruden’s pussy aching also influenced this decision.
On a side note, toe tagging Burfict was worth the suspension.

The hypocrisy on the NFL's part is the worst part of this. Why even schedule Pittsburgh-Cincinnati for a prime time matchup? You know there is bad blood, that the two teams genuinely seem to bring out the worst in each other, this is not a rivalry like Pitt/Baltimore.
So, they know this and yet aren't going to let that stop them from scheduling it for prime time, a Monday night matchup, or a Sunday night game, because, ratings. They know people will tune in to watch. If the NFL really wanted to stop some of this bullshit they could diffuse the situation by just having it be a 1:00 game on Sunday. Not a prime time matchup, just an ordinary average Sunday afternoon game.
Do you really think the NFL will not schedule another Pitt/Cincy prime time game next year? As much as they are outraged by the game last night, they are also secretly thrilled about the potential ratings and buzz of continuing to schedule these prime time matchup, to continue to feed this fire.

And let's not forget, the scheduled 1pm start time in Pittsburgh was moved to 4:25 so it could go national. That said though...it's the games in Paul Brown Stadium that are the most compelling.

I was thinking the same thing, Perch. For all of the hemming & hawing about how "ugly" this game was. There's a devestating injury on a play that looks ordinary. There's a deceleating block that would have brought accolades just a few years ago (and still does from all of us), and then there's a single helmet to helmet on AB. There were no fights, no excessive chippiness.
There WAS, however, the worst announcing I think I've ever heard in all my years of watching football.

Seeing somebody like Burfict get what he deserves doesn't bother me. Live action I thought the taunt was dumb and saw the flags coming. Need to know the rules. Cost your team 15.
Hit good. Taunt dumb, not due to any type of sportsmanship or moral baloneys..but because it's a point of emphasis this year and guaranteed penalty. Spring a block for your teammate then say "oh let's go backwards 15".
Whatever. JuJu the new steeler villain. Hope he relishes in the role like Hines and deebo.

That juju and grink had the exact same punishments is absurd
I am teetering on the edge of giving up on the NFL it is out of control with the ridiculous punishments, commissioner nonsense and pass intereference ambiguity
I am truly losing interest

I too hope JuJu becomes a legend of the Burgh. Loved it. Didn’t love the taunt but I’ll take it.
Lost some respect for Gruden when those two bitches started crying in the booth.
These dumbasses preach safety and Gronkowski got two, reduced to one for his antics AFTER the play and clearly INTENTIONAL. GTFO.
Every year the NFL dies a little more.

Good Lord what a crock of shit.
Technically the hit was illegal. But penalty illegal, MAYBE fine illegal, NO WAY suspension illegal.
Same with the "taunt". Has anybody in the history of the league been SUSPENDED for a taunt?

A split second play.
No priors.
Not intentionally malicious like Gronks.
Maybe the taunting after the play ?
JuJu was aiming for shoulders......helmets are attached to shoulders, therefore the helmet contact.
And yes, IIokas was worse, as his shot was all head snapping, He better be suspended too.
Exactly my thoughts. Gronk hits a guy that is laying on the ground and gives him a concussion and that act is viewed by the NFL to be on the same level of what JuJu did, what the fuck? Gronk should have got a minimum 2 game suspension for that BS. JuJu has no prior history and Burfict played that shit up, it was still a big hit but I know Burfict wanted to play the victim for once since he's usually always on the other side as the perpetrator. Soon as the cart took him off the field that piece of shit hopped off and ran into the locker room.
Seeing Burfict layed out like that though after all the Steelers players he's injured throughout the years was sooooooo satisfying to see, it was the cherry on top to go along with the win. I might make that hit my new gif signature.
For your viewing pleasure:
JuJu lowers his shoulder and turns his head trying to avoid helmet contact.
You are taught to hit with shoulder.
Shoulder are connected to the helmet.
Its inevitable that the majority of tackles may have helmet to helmet contact.
The sub-plot to that story and the beauty of that GIF is Bell trucking Kirkpatrick one more time.
2 Bengals getting blown up in one GIF. That GIF will be around a lifetime.
Unless the NFL has it removed because it is too appalling and intended for mature audiences only. PG-13?
OTOH. I would not be suprised if this game is replayed on NFL rewind during the week. ( Which goes to Scunges point FEW POSTS BACK )
Another thing about that JuJu hit.
Remove JuJu from the video. Assume he is on the other side of the field, or 5-7 yards down field.
Now look at Burfict and where he is in relation to Bell.
He is about to load up and would probably level some hit on Bell after Bell slows to run into Kirkpatrick.
History says, Burfict probably would have been zero-ing in on Bells knee or probably deliver a big helmet to helmet, as Bell is a RB and can go H2H.
JuJu saved another late season injury to Bell.
This may be a strech as I am typing thru my Steeler colored glasses.
But not too far off.

Everything you just said. Completely agree. I was going to post the same thing about that Gif. Two bengals getting their asses handed to them on one play. I also believe Burfucked was going to target Bell in order to lay a devastating hit. It was late in the game, and removing him would have been desirable. It's his history.Stosh-67 wrote:Steelers/PSU Fan wrote:Stosh-67 wrote:Madness.

that's where I'm at..how they remotely the same? gronk hit dude laying down after the play with one intent..juju blocked a guy hard..u know I'm watching juju on this thread..its a tet book block..now I get the taunting..to bad he didn't move quick to hit another Bengal..but noway should that block be punished..horseshit

All these analysts have either lost their collective minds, or all gone chicken-shit at the same time.
Enjoyed (not really enjoyed, suffered through and then was happy in the end) the game last night at my PEI cottage. Been good luck this year....saw last night's game, the KC & Detroit games all up here on the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Anyway, Jabari Greer, on TSN, spouts off that the JuJu suspension was absolutely the right call....but not the Iloka suspension. Said that JuJu had malicious intent....Iloka merely targeted a bit off.

That’s hilarious. Juju strike zone was shoulder to shoulder with incidental H2H. Iloka’s strike zone was helmet the whole way. How do you get it that wrong and get paid for your opinion?

I thought there were several talking heads that were spot on. Kornholer made the point that if the Shazier injury hadn't happened, we probably aren't having the conversation. Also called out the NFL for consistently making this a primetime matchup. Louis Riddick made some excellent points. Both, and several others made it a point to call out the inconsistency and the difference between what happened Monday night and the Gronk hit from Sunday.
All in all, the folks I saw were considerably more coherent than the clowns calling the game.

Steeler receivers love some Bengal backers!
Hines Ward -Keith Rivers.
I wish this JuJu hit would have put Burfict out for the year like that Ward hit on Rivers.
Bengals live up to their name - straight pussies.
