Re: AB ruled out
Ben was throwing 40 yard passes today in practice. Per Martavis, he could have thrown even further if he wanted to.

Several teammates confirmed that Roethlisberger made many different types of throws. "Pretty much the whole route tree," Will Johnson said.

More Tomlin on Ben: “He did everything we asked him to do. I was very specific about what I asked him to do."
We're going as far as The Gray can take us.

Weirdly, I could see DHB having a really nice game.
Wheaton too.
We just might be alright.

Wheaton had 9 for 209 and touchdown against Seattle. Granted that was with Brown, but he seems capable. I foresee a 10-catch day for Heath. Granted for about 60 yards. Middle all day long.

All AWESOME news.
Throw. The. Football. On. First. Down.
Sure, this blows, but this is doable.
The Ben to AB connection has been out of this world the last couple of years, but Ben has shown throughout his career that he is a quarterback that doesn't need to heavily lean on just one wide receiver to play great. He's gotten it done with so many different rotating groups of guys with various skills and abilities. He's gotten it done with Cedrick Wilson, Nate Washington, Mike Wallace, Jerricho Cotchery, a glorified decoy in Hines Ward when he was hurting in the SB, and on and on. Hell, look what Ben has done with DHB. That guy couldn't even do anything with Andrew Luck and Ben made him a legit threat early in the year when we were missing Bryant.
As great as AB is, he's still just a WR on the receiving end of throws from a great QB. He makes Ben better, but AB wouldn't be putting up the numbers he is on most other teams. It will take a smart game plan, and a really big performance from the O line, but they can get this done. The offense can go out there and play great. They just need to be a little smarter and a little more creative. It can be done.

Ben told WRs about Cedrick Wilson in 2005 (26-451-17.3-0 TDs reg. season, 9-216-24.0-2 postseason) as example of what can occur in playoffs.

I'll just hope Peyton plays like ass and we find a way to hang around and win late with Ben magic.

Very good news about Ben, but I still believe they will need a defensive TD (or something close to it) to win the game.
Losing AB really blows, but they always have a shot if #7 is in there.

Awesome. And he had way less talent than Bryant, Wheaton, or DHB.

While this is awesome of Ben to be doing this as a motivational tool, Cedrick exploded in the '05 playoffs because of superior play design and scheme, not because of domination in talent.
He should be telling the story of Cedrick Wilson to Todd Haley as well....because Ken Whisenhunt made Cedrick Wilson a 2005 playoff hero.

And Coates if he gets a hat.

bradshaw2ben wrote:Having re-watched last week, I think Landry Jones might have less arm strength than 20015 Peyton or ben with a wrecked shoulder.
That might be from watching Ben all these years. As I often say seeing Ben in preseason as a rookie was an eye opener, visa vi, Maddox both in arm strength and accuracy. Especially after seeing Maddox in comparison to Kordell and his who knows where only half the field passes. I thought Maddox had a big league arm. Ben made it look not so big league.
With that said: I don't know if Jones is all that much less in the zip dept than average around the league. One can only hope he makes it up with savvy. Although his doing a pump fake on the Felon INT play wasn't effective because it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't be seen behind that wall of war in the trenches. That makes me think he is still raw in a lot of ways.
I hope they talk about these kind of things and it registers. One thing that I'm not concerned about is what some people voiced, that he was chicken shit. I didn't see that at all.
If he plays I think the staff gives him the best opportunity to make plays.
Im thinking that Denver will go all out stopping everything short of the chains from running to passing. They'll let him take some shots with the idea that he wont have the time.
I think Wheaton has a chance to come up big on intermediate routes like Sanders did in his rookie year. For intermediate routes like that Jones should have enough time.
Hoping to see some contributions from Outlaw and Coates too. That should open up the game some for Marty McBryant

Bryant stud, Wheaton stud, DHB stud, Coates stud,
Don't be surprised when these Reviecers step up.

C'mon Jeems...give Ced a little credit. Dude still had to run the route and catch the ball.

I don't know if we have much chance of winning, but one thing is for sure. If we pull this off, this will be one of the sweetest wins in Steelers history.
