CFB Week 2. Lead Pipe Locks of the week.

Post by R_S » Wed Sep 03, 2014 8:13 pm

I was enjoying the discussion in last weeks thread. For the most part I avoid the NFL in week 1. Lets get a discussion going and make a decision on the...

of the week.

After that frustrating Navy game last week, and losing ground in the rankings, tOSU will most likely mash some mothers at home. Take em and give the points. Just glad it isn't Earl Holmes coaching this year's victims.

I'm leaning Notre Dame -3.5 vs Mich and East Carolina +17 vs South Carolina....

Not a lead pipe lock....

But I like the Rockets +3.5 at home against Mizzou.

Went to the Toledo opener and their Offense looks like a video game. Near 700 yards total and most of the starters were out at the beginning of the 4th. Pushed the Tigers last year in Missouri.

Upset special coming this Saturday....

I looked at that as well...I'm thinking it's going to be a tight game....but I just can't pull the trigger given Mizzous edge rushers.

I'm off ND...I like them...but that line is all over the place between 3 and 6...

Tough week...but ECU's O looks like it matches up well vs SC...so I'm taking those points.

I'm also going to roll with PSU -18 over Akron...I look at CF as a top 15 program, Franklins home opener, Hack looked to be more over confident in his arm then dumb in his reads.

I'm thinking MSU upends the Ducks...but I'll wait to game time.

I'm with you on Penn State...they will squash Akron at home.

Stanford as a 2 1/2 point favorite at home vs USC. I'd take that action.

That Stanford USC game is going to be a good one, and a big one in terms of the PAC 10. Really big, for this early in the season. I'll be watching. Tough call, because of the vastly inferior cupcakes both teams digested last weekend, I don't feel like I know much about either team at this point. Trojan explosiveness and athleticism vs toughness, grind and a slightly more experienced coach and QB for the Cardinal.

I might be surprised, but I'll take Stanford at home. No starting CB vs. Hogan? What it came down to for me.

that's a good one. USC's first real game running this new offense against a very feisty stanford group . . . and stanford's oline is just ridiculous.

elsewhere in the pac12 i don't think i'd touch mich st. / oregon. feels like either a close win for MSU or a 20+ pt rout for oregon and I can't decide which i believe in more

Between those two games, we'll know a lot more about the Pac 10 by the end of week 2 than any other conference.

I truly expect Oregon to bitchslap MSU.
Mariota on his way to the Heisman, and #1 draft pick.

That possibility exists but...Oregon can't beat big boy teams and MSU looks like a top tier SEC program to me. What makes me hesitate is Oregon is much more explosive at the beginning of the year.

I picked Stanford straight up...but it scares me, 3 new Oline starters, about 8 new defensive starters vs a pretty advanced offense that beat them last year.

Really looking forward to these two games.

The question for the Oregon/MSU game is this: Who's playing LDT/LDE for MSU? If he's a player like Heyward (tOSU/Oregon Rose Bowl) or Fairley (Auburn/Oregon National Championship), Oregon isn't going anywhere, Mariota looks mortal, loses his Heisman ticket, and Oregon goes down. A good player at that position has historically wrecked that scheme.

Well, I can't argue your take on Oregon vs quality teams. You do think more highly of MSU than I, however. I wouldn't put them with the SEC elite. But that's just one mans opinion.

I do agree with you regarding these games. Should be some good football.

Good point, but I don't know that MSU has that guy. Also, I believe MM is the best QB to come through the Oregon system. Yes...better than the great Dennis Dixon!!! ;)

After further investigation this week is truly a bitch...

I'm off PSU....Akron has played there ass off the last 6 games under Bowden.

I think Vandy's new HC sucks and was going Ole Miss...but that line has moved from 14 to 20.

I've liked Stanford, ND and MSU all week...but many "experts" see those games the other way...

I like the way ECU matches up with SC...but you know Spurrier is pissed and will hang as many as he can.

So...after much debate I'm going with Kansas St minus 12 over Iowa St...even though the early money drove this down 3.5.

If I get that in early I'll likely come back with MSU plus 13 over Ducks...

And being a complete degenerate I like Hawaii and the 10 points vs Oregon St. late night...

1st half passing yards totaled 9 at the Pitt game. Yinzer rock pounding orgasm!

Since we are talking bets, I just saw the Rams are at -3 vs Minny. Is Minny really supposed to be that bad as the dogs verse a team that just lost there starting qb?

Well, a team that just lost it's starting QB, vs a team that lost it's starting QB, what is it, 4 or 5 years ago. Without looking it up, I assume the Rams are at home, thus the three points. With the obvious exception of RB, one could make the case for the Rams at just about every position.
But then, what do I know? I quit betting football many years ago. (Long, boring story, but I'm sure you all can figure it out. ;) )

Watching the first 2 PSU games of the year, I've come to the conclusion that I've never heard a color man so completely oblivious and clueless to what is actually happening in a game than Ed Cunningham. Congrats Ed, out of all the dipshit announcers, you take the cake. That's a feat.

Silly question here...when did PSU start having their names on their jerseys?

Yeah, definitely looks odd after all those years with the traditional blue or white unmarked jerseys.

Nice win. Akron isn't terrible, but PSU has a bunch of areas to clean up.
Not sure how I feel about the play calling and Franklin's in game management.

Hack is a talent but, sometimes makes horrible decisions. I don't know if he thinks he can make any throw, if he is trying to do too much or has trouble reading his 2nd and 3rd options. Either way he should improve as the season progresses.

Hack was off today. It wasn't all about misreading, he was just missing throws. Inaccurate. Though I did notice in the first half that his targets were just not getting separation and many times he had nowhere to go with the ball.

Franklin tries to get too cute sometimes, I've noticed The halfback pass and the reverse thrown in there when they had a drive going, being examples.

What made you think MSU looked "big time"? They got their ass handed to them.

Mariota might get a Heisman... If he's the #1 pick my guess is he's a huge bust.
