Dupree was applying pressure all game, and forced the safety.
Is he Lamar Woodley? No, but he may just be another Jason Worilds type of player. I still say the Steelers will sign him to a decent contract in the offseason, 5 years, $35-40 million.
For those Dupree haters what were your excuses or complaints on that safety? Was that a 'Dong type of safety'? Was that somehow not a legitimate play?? Just curious.

Interesting thread....
I don't think he can carry Worilds jock.....Dupree occasionally gets pressure, but more often than not he's out of the play.

I have the same one I've had since Dupree suited up in a Steeler uniform and played his first professional snap. He has the very infuriating habit of first running himself out of the play and then standing there watching it unfold as it moves away from him. I understand running yourself out of a play. Matakevich does it constantly too. At least Matakevich continues to play back towards the play unfolding. He doesn't just Stop and Watch quitting on the play. That's my only real nit-pick of Dupree. Keep playing till the whistle....

He’s not great but he is far from the Steeers biggest issue on defense. He’s a guy that the Steelers can win with.

Credit where credit is due. He’s not the greatest, but he’s an improved player this year.

If he does the same thing to Flacco next week I’ll change my avatar to #48

The Browns Tackles among the worst in the NFL
The left tackle Desmond Harrison an undrafted rookie who got kicked out of Texas for weed spent 3 years out of football before ending up at D2 West Georgia.
Joe Thomas he ain’t
I should hope even Bud Dupree could beat him for a few plays which he did in both games vs the Browns.
Still not a bud fan and hope an off season upgrade is made

What were Dupree’s stats today?

The hard part is when to credit the secondary improvement and when to credit the LB improvement. They both have a hand in each’s performance.
Football is the ultimate team game. Dupree being a beast today is an example of other players performing well to allow them to blitz better.
Damn Hilton might be the best tackler on the team.

Those stats don’t tell the whole story and I was not very high on Dupree these past few seasons.
He applied pressure today, basically give him a sack for that holding call safety in the end zone because it would have been one anyway.
Seven games in since the switch with Watt, they each seem more confident getting after the QB, hopefully Dupree gets even more comfortable and starts really using his athleticism to do damage.

I agree but let’s not act like we haven’t seen Dupree whiff on a sack before. I was happy they called the hold for the safety.

This^ I have to admit he has played better this season than last but so far this year, just like last, against quality tackles he disappears or looks super lost in space.

Now my question is why didn’t the coaching staff explore switching Dupree and Watt last year?

You know, Dupree practices against an undrafted FA every day, right?
I think Harrison is learning the ropes, and he may have character issues that prevent him from reaching his potential in the NFL... but he's got tools and probably will be pretty good someday. Has been an NFL starter for half a season and not embarrassed himself utterly. I'd say that's pretty good for a UDFA rookie LT. He's playing better this year than Duane Brown did in his 1st season, and Brown was a 1st round pick.

Until Worilds' last season, Jason was JAG. I agree that Bud isn't as good as Worilds was in his final season but the last few weeks he's been at least as effective as JW's other years.
That said, he does run himself out of plays far too often. Still, I agree with the sentiment that he is far from our biggest issue on Defense.

Wake me up when Dupree has a good showing against a real NFL OT. I'm thrilled he had a good game. Forcing the safety was great. Unfortunately, I know better than to get excited. Most Browns fans will tell you that Harrison has some tools, but has been pretty awful this year. Their LT situation has been a train wreck all pre-season and beyond.
Let's see what Dupree does against Ronnie Stanley next week. Stanley was hurt and in a walking boot after the game. I suspect even a hobbled Stanley will shut him down.

Yup and Dupree went off against the same in the first game of the season.

SPOT ON.
If Dupree owns a big-time LT, then it's time to start getting excited.
