I just hope Haley didn't run the wheels off him...
But seriously, well deserved extension. Guy's been pretty money for us.

Excellent news!
Now, someone show him correct technique for operation of a paper towel dispenser, and we should be all good.

Great signing. As most kicker signings go I guess...

Blessed with a favorable wrist and ankle circumference as well as a reasonably sized head so as to not throw off his balance, the Wizard is a great signing.

Remember when we rushed to trade for Josh Scobee because of Tomlin's fear of the unkown?

Throw. The. Football. On. First. Down.
Love the guy. Deal seems a bit on the rich side (2nd highest paid kicker?) - very accurate inside 50 but not the leg some others have.
I realize cap is going up and he'll probably not be a top-5 paid kicker very long (and is arguably a top-5 kicker). I thought he'd be closer to $3.5M per, so not that far off

I'd describe the legs as average; accuracy elite (i.e., top-3 of kickers). I don't know if that makes him top-5, but I value accuracy above leg strength. It is kind of like QBs IMO.
Jeff Reed was the Chad Pennington of kickers; Boz is no Chad Pennington.

I pretty much agree 100% with that. However, while he has been maybe top-3 in accuracy, I think the "real" accuracy of the top-10 is statistically insignificant for the most part. And he doesn't have the leg some others have. So I would argue he's not or will not remain a top-5 kicker, but production-wise there's an argument to be made.

Wait a minute ... Chad Pennington liked taking his shirt off, getting drunk and attacking bathroom equipment!?!
But on a serious note, the Boz contract might seem high for a kicker. But the guy straight won us games. Assuming things don't change, there is no position you on the roster you wouldn't pay an extra couple mil a year to if the result was 1-4 more wins a season.I agree his tangibles, leg strength being average and accuracy being elite are accurate. It's really the intangible he has that a lot of kickers don't that has made him so good: ice in his veins, shines brightest in the most important moments.

I'm not sure that's actually a thing for most kickers. A few DO choke, maybe, but when I've looked at this before what you see is a period where a guy has very good accuracy for maybe 3-4 years, and then slump to varying degrees (and a good % of those will find themselves out of the league)....which basically describes Jeff Reed's career.
The closest thing to a study on "choking" was the whole "ice the kicker" thing with a last second TO. If I recall correctly, it made almost 0 difference. So IMO the kicker with "ice in his veins" is the same thing as the "hot hand" fallacy.
Although Boswell might be the real deal since so many of his kicks go right down the middle.

Its been proven to work on "licquored up" kickers...

I do wonder if Boz won't regress because so few of his kicks appear to juuuust sneak into the uprights. Stated differently, he has very few 50:50 balls where a little more wind or a little less wind would cause a make to be a miss.

Not just me. I'l admit I don't watch a lot of other teams now....but Boz literally splits the uprights more than anyone.
That said, Gostowski and Tucker are probably on a different level. Boz ain't top 3, but arguably top-5.
