Kind of excited for this tilt.

Pens getting back key guys. Philly....every game is a new day.

Not sure many of you remember this long time ago compilation when River Hockey meant something.

Who are the Pens getting back?
Malkin is a game time decision, ZAR and Schultz are both out.

Says Malkin is probable:

Evgeni Malkin (upper body) is "probable" to play on Monday night, per coach Mike Sullivan.

Malkin took part in line rushes between Phil Kessel and Nick Bjugstad during the morning skate. He also worked on the top power-play unit, which are fairly good signs that he is ready to return from a five-game absence.

Matt Murray will be in the crease Monday night versus Philadelphia.

This will be his first outing since he missed one game due to an upper-body injury. Murray was back on the bench for Saturday's 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay when Casey DeSmith played. He has lost his last two starts, while allowing three goals each time. Murray has gone 15-9-1 this season with a 2.97 GAA and .909 save percentage.

ZAR and Schultz won't be back this game.

Malkin is still game time decision because of soreness. If he isn't sore by game time he plays. If he is sore he won't. That has been the way it has been the last two games.

Murray dressed and would have played last game if needed. So he was already back.

Morning skate lineup looks like:
Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
-Kessel--Malkin- Bjugstad
Pearson-McCann-Simon
Wilson-Cullen-Hornqvist
Pettersson-Letang
Dumoulin-Johnson
Maatta-Riikola

Sully has gone full retard:
Kessel at LW
TB...the man who's scored a couple nice goals and has put forth tremendous effort and pulse, has been scratched.

Jonathan Bombulie

@BombulieTrib
Sullivan: Malkin is probable tonight in Philly. Kessel will play on his left, Bjugstad on his right. Murray on the hill.

So Bjugstad only gets two games with Crosby? Everyone knows Rust does well with Malkin.
Kessel at LW-wow!

Hornqvist on the fourth line? Person should be there instead.

Jesus. Can't we have nice things? Teddy B instead of Pearson, please. And, dear god, please scratch Johnson when Schultz is ready.

That was long overdue. Kessel hasn't been shooting the puck and he's been responsible for probably 2/3 of the shorthanded scoring chances allowed because of trying to force passes.

Lots of odd man rushes for the Flyers already which means the Pens are changing poorly or not backchecking.

JJ's suckedness on display last shift. Dumo chases the puck down in his zone and flips it over to JJ in the other corner. JJ has a few seconds to make a play but hesitates and gives up the puck and the Flyers get a good shot on goal.

Crosby was a forechecking machine early on. Easy goal for him that he buries every time.

Crosby's scoring is a little off but he's playing as complete a game as just about anyone can. He has to be in the Selke race this year.

Pens have blown a lot of these up 1-0 games this year.

Get another goal and build a lead.

Nice goal after Murray made some solid saves in traffic during the PK.

There was a stat shared earlier where on the Pens last 5 road losses they scored first.

Man, the Flyers D men really push the offense. Have to take advantage of that.

28 SOG surrendered in that period. In the words of Bill Cowher at halftime of SB 40 "I don't know how we are winning but we are."
Give up 28 in the next and it won't be pretty. The Pens looked wiped out at the end of the period. When you give up that many shots you don't get PP opportunities and surely the opposition will garner one eventually.
The second and fourth line were the only lines to generate OZ time in that period.

I see Malkin didn't gain any IQ points during his time off.

That was incredibly stupid by him but he got punched in the head prior to that in front of the whole world and nothing called. Again, that was stupid and wiped out a great effort by him tonight and the second line and all.
