OK time to talk about 2020 for the steelers

Post by steelmann58 » Sun Dec 29, 2019 10:59 pm

FO will Colbert be back ?
Will someone try to pry Tomlin away?

What FA will try to keep
Bud was this a breakout season or just a guy having a good contract year? do you franchise him?
Hargaves has he played his final game here or do you tag him instead?
everyone else can leave as far as i am concerned.
guys you can cut Chickillo and i thinking Foster if you think BJ can become a full time starter.
The steelers need to find Offense guy who can be a difference maker with their Second round pick.
Then go offense again with that 3rd round comp.
The steelers need to find their Steve Nelson type of FA for the offense.
They must also find a safety to replace Edmunds because he is terrible.
The steelers must also find a Full time QB coach for this team.
I would also look to see if they can find a New OLCoach

The window officially closed when Ben went down.

Total overhaul is in order. Not that I expect they'll do it.

I disagree. I think if they get a healthy Ben back and solve the running back situation they will be competitive.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS. :D :D :D

sorry bigger needs than RB my priority is Playmaking TE and try to find a Top WR.
But if the steelers can find the offense version of Steve Nelson in FA that will be great

A reliable RB with Ben and the current WR corps would definitely up the offensive production. Getting a TE is icing on the cake.

Trade Tomlin to Washington to become Snyders Coach / general operations manager.

Get 2020 and 2021 first round picks as compensation

2020 redskins first round pick lands you Chase Young - potential HOF and Duprees replacement

2021 Redskins first round pick used with steelers first rounder plus all the ammo you have to get a future QB Trevor Lawrence.

Hire a coaching staff that plays aggressive D and a balanced O. Who that is I have no idea.

Then I wake up from my dream.

I’d trade Tomlin for we got for Tone, a 5th rounder.

I kid.

Kind of.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

We'd be playing next week had we kept Haley and Landry Jones.

No improvement, and actually regression on OL. Need a new OL coach. I don't think you can blame personnel here.

QBs actually got worse with experience, not better, and didn't learn from mistakes. Need a QB coach. Personnel can be faulted here, but the lack of any learning curve whatsoever, and the fact that unprepared QBs seemed to do better than starters argues against that being the case.

Offense never learned or adapted in any way, shape or form. Need a new OC. You could (and they very likely will) make the personnel argument here, too, but man, that offense was, I think, the worst I've ever seen in the Black and Gold.

If we're gonna shuffle some deck chairs, those would be the obvious and best ones to shuffle.

we have to fire both OL coaches as well as add WR coach and full time OB coach.

While Haley is probably an upgrade over fichtner, Landry Jones has essentially the same deficiencies that Rudolph and Hodges. Plus- there still isn't a receiver on the roster that can dictate coverage.

So- would they have won, one more game? Yeah it is entirely possible, but - it wouldn't matter- they'd be 1 and done in the playoffs.

Waaay too many deficiencies on the offensive side of the ball.

Oakley's. We definitively need to judge coaches by the sunglasses they wear.
