Eagles agreed to terms with DT Javon Hargrave, formerly of the Steelers, on a three-year, $39 million contract.
Hargrave was one of the more underrated free agents on the market. This is a really good get for the Eagles, pairing him with Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson on the interior, likely ending Timmy Jernigan's time with Philly. Hargrave, 27, was Pro Football Focus' No. 12 interior lineman among 119 qualifiers last season when he registered four sacks and played strong run defense next to Cameron Heyward.

Javon Hargrave signs with Eagles

But I thought we don't let our defensive players we want to keep leave via FA?
I predicted he'd pull $11+ mill per year. He got $13 mill a year and most importantly $26 mill guaranteed. He earned it.
Significant loss.

*reserves the right to roots for losses*
Going to be missed was best Dlineman last year. Really came on as pass rushing threat as well.
No way I pay him 13M per year. Good for him though.
If I am in charge of the Steelers I would have given Hargrave that contract. 3 years, $39 million, I was predicting that he would sign a contract between $40-50 million.
So, he is gone now and we have to probably draft a DL quite high to replace him, 3rd rounder at least, maybe even that 2nd rounder if the right guy is there.
For all of this talk of Stephon Tuitt coming back, of his potential, if he can stay healthy, think what he can do, well, it has always been exactly that with him hasn't it? What if??
I KNOW what I had in Javon Hargrave. There was NO unrealized potential with him. He was an ascending player, getting better and better. He played through injury and was leaned upon heavily to fill in for Tuitt when he was out of the lineup.
Replacing Hargrave, now you have to rely on perhaps two or three people. That is not hyperbole. Now they may have to spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick AND perhaps sign a vet. Instead of one highly versatile player, now you have somebody who comes in and plays the run, another who comes in to pass rush at times, and neither does the job that Hargrave could do at both. And if Tuitt or Cam goes down to injury? Nobody to help fill that chasm either.
He was one of my favorite Steelers and now he has landed in the perfect spot. Will finally get to see him realize his full potential.

Safer move would have been to find a way to keep Hargrave and get rid of china doll Tutu.
Bet he finishes th a year on the shelf again.
Oh well.

Hargrave was good but he was underutilized in Pittsburgh. I believe he'll be a better player for the Eagles in their 43. Thanks for you contributions.
