Khan on the interview trail
had something with the Texans and now the Panthers looking at him and this worries me with Tepper as the owner

Can anyone confirm if we get a draft pick for him leaving for Rooney rule 2.0 or has that not passed yet?
I have a question, do we even know if Omar knows anything about evaluating talent? He obviously knows contract negotiating and such, but isn't the main job of a GM to evaluate talent?
He actually lives near me, from what I understand Rooney and him are very close. So if he gets an offer, wonder if Rooney would make a play to keep him.
Plus, didn't Tepper already say on record "I won't ever fuck Art Rooney".

All of that is correct. But Colbert is stepping into a part-time role, and it's been my understanding they've been grooming Omar for GM for years.
What an abortion this team could quickly become.

Thanks.
They are grooming Omar or a scout named Hunt or something right? Hopefully if they really believe Omar os the future they keep him.

Rooney Rule. Teams fly Khan around and feed him steak dinners to comply with this stupid rule. He never gets the job, but man does he eat well! He’s not a football guy, he’s a numbers guy and a contract guy. But he’s young and a minority with a lot of front office experience so he gets the free steak dinners. Good gig if you can get it. Brandon Hunt will take over for Colbert when he retires next year.JJT07 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 2:48 amI have a question, do we even know if Omar knows anything about evaluating talent? Brandon Hunt is the guy that is tabbed to be the next man in charge from a few articles I saw over the last 2 years or so. Khan has always been a pretty public figure in the organization for a front office guy.

So am i reading this correctly, we'd receive 1 3rd rnd comp pick in each of the next 2 drafts??

One element of this story worth nothing.
If Khan is hired by the Panthers as their GM, I believe the Steelers would receive one 3rd round comp pick the next two years under the league's new minority-hire compensation.
Khan has always been long highly thought of by the Steelers, so I'm assuming losing him would hurt, but getting an extra third round compensation pick in 2021 AND 2022 for him going to the Panthers as their GM would be very nice given our needs.Greeksteel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:15 pmSo am i reading this correctly, we'd receive 1 3rd rnd comp pick in each of the next 2 drafts??

Have I said what a wonderful and highly qualified GM candidate Khan is? Surely the next Ozzie Newsome likely better.Greeksteel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:15 pmSo am i reading this correctly, we'd receive 1 3rd rnd comp pick in each of the next 2 drafts??

Karl Dunbar and artery Austin should be the hottest DC candidates in the league. I could see Ike Hilliard as the next Eric Bieniemy as an OC as well.

“The measure is subject to NFL Players Association approval, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Teams that lose a minority coach or executive to a head coach or general manager job with another team will receive a third-round compensatory pick for two consecutive years, per Pelissero.”Greeksteel wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:15 pmSo am i reading this correctly, we'd receive 1 3rd rnd comp pick in each of the next 2 drafts??

Mark Kaboly tweeted today it would be a pair of 3rd round picks.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

Khan did not make it to the 2nd rnd of interviews. There goes that.

It would be just like Art2 to screw this up by losing Colbert to Detroit and promoting Khan to GM. Then, like an idiot, try and forfeit/return two of our future 3rd round picks......you know, just to by fair.
Or the window has closed and the only two football-smart guys left in the organization aren't going to wait around to watch Tomlin run the team into the ground post-Ben...
