Door slammer.
All joking aside, I’ll be shocked if they don’t at least try to bring him back. Not that he’s worth a crap, but we know how they covet familiarity.

He had a couple of plays, but best OL on the field is a serious stretch. He’s an under-JAG, just got cut by the worst team in the league…not even good enough to make their final 80.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 9:43 pmJobu......be honest.....when got snaps in that Bengal game he was the best OL on the field right ??

When he got snaps with us he was BY far the best OL on the field IMO ..... He is built like a hulkJobu wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 9:50 pmHe had a couple of plays, but best OL on the field is a serious stretch. He’s essentially free at this point and we don’t have shit at RG .....why not bring him in and make someone really win the RG job ??? At this point it’s pretty much zero risk and all upside right ??
When the Steelers cut good players I just figure it’s often due to the dysfunctional way the Steelers are
As far as Jax goes who knows ??? But it’s hard for me to think an ncaa coach is irreproachable at this point anyway

Let's be honest, we've all got our favorite JAGs. It's what makes horse racing. Oh, I definitely agree, and I'd not be averse to Gray. Preferable at this point to the rumor floating about a 4th rounder to the Iggles for their currently injured former 1st round OT. Not that I'm sold on our players there, either, I'm just not sold on Klemm pulling a reclamation job, yet.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 10:10 pmFinding cheap JAGs that can win in your system is a BIG key to winning championships

Gray would be an excellent addition for depth. Maybe he better than Coward or Finney
Claimed by Titans, so Steelers never got a shot.

You're betting a guy is on a practice squad?SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:49 pm$50 to the SteelerFury website maintenance fund says he’s on a practice squad nfl opening day....or a roster before week 3

A few months ago you had Gray pretty much an NFL starter. Now you're betting he makes some team's practice squad?
How about this: I'll bet Gray isn't going to be on the Steelers practice squad.
They've seen enough of him.

I gladly bet you $50 that Derwin Gray won't be working at Target in about 2 weeks. He might be unemployed or employed, but it won't be at Target me thinks.K_C_ wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:54 pmYou're betting a guy is on a practice squad?SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:49 pm$50 to the SteelerFury website maintenance fund says he’s on a practice squad nfl opening day....or a roster before week 3

He played great at G for the Steelers when he got snaps
Easily the best OL on the field .....A hulk smash bulldozer for the Steelers basic approach....
The Steelers and other teams often make decisions based on something other than what we see in performance terms IMO
You said he will be out of the nfl......
I doubt that
Teams that win championships have several guys like Gray on the roster and a few even starting. Can’t have HOFers everywhere and you gotta pay to keep top talent
You gotta have guys like Gray who can win in your system
Truthfully I’m kinda surprised he hasn’t cemented himself somewhere......but he is a limited pass blocker....and as far as the bet to benefit this great website it would certainly seem to be in your favor at the moment but.....
I do understand you chickening out......you often talk bs that reality doesn’t support when it comes to football....lolololz

Gray will get cut again soon and may somehow end up on YET ANOTHER practice squad.
Then he'll get cut again and could end up on EVEN YET ANOTHER practice squad.
That's how this shit works. Dude isn't NFL caliber but he's going to keep trying until all the doors shut on him.
....just like the door shut on him in Pittsburgh, amirite?
Target is in his future though....and you know it.

So, not really anything new on acquiring OLine help in this thread, then...

Okung is really the only LT on the market right now. There may be one worthy from final team cuts, but I'm not sure who that would be. At this point I don't think he's much better than what Big Al would've been and he's probably gonna want $8MM or more per year -- which we probably don't have. Other than depth, I think we're stuck with Chuks -- or Moore if he takes over.
RT.....looks like it's Banner or bust. Rick Wagner and Mitchell Schwartz are what's available right now. I think both would be better pass blockers but maybe weaker run blockers than what Banner may offer. Plus, they will cost more. Cheap final-cut players for depth is probably all we can expect at this point.
