Will Tomlin Continue with his policy
[*]Of Just promoting from within especially with the OL Coach will they at least look at any outside candidates. It Butler Retires like Tomlin hinted. Will he just promote Austin or might look at least outside.
Didn’t Austin come from the outside?
“Yeah we suck, be there is a chance we could suck slightly more if we try to correct the problem.” - Art Deuce (summarized by SteelPerch)
I’d say that promoting from within is pretty much an organizational policy.

I hope they bring in Kevin Mawae from Indy for an interview as the new OL coach.

Nah, promoting from within is the way. Khan is new GM (well, after draft), Austin is new DC and Morgan is new OL coach.steelmann58 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 4:29 am[*]Of Just promoting from within especially with the OL Coach will they at least look at any outside candidates. I didn't think it could get worse than Fichtner...
It did, it's amazing. Coach Mike is like Col Kurtz...up the river, no one to answer to. He runs the team, it's obvious. He runs everything, has more power than the dunk Art Rooney. They can't get rid of him.
It would take Bruce WIllis in one of those cop boats to sail up the river to take him out.

It's weird that the untouchable Coach Tomlin who doesn't really have to worry about backstabbers, decides to worry about backstabbers.
Dude is just a douchebag.

I still want MM back
Again, you gotta grab a piece of shit before you can polish a turd.

I doubt Kevin Mawae would put up with Coach Mike's bullshit, I recall him being a bit of a psycho.
That said, the Stillers could use him.

I don't think fear of backstabbing is the right word, I think it's a fear of being exposed. He has a HOF resume, but only if people never learn how the sausage was made.Jobu wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:48 pmDK on Matt Canada and promoting from within…

Also, in order to attract decent candidates you have to promote from within because it's the only way any of them are advancing in the NFL.

I still think the dde is super paranoid, and is a lot like Col Kurtz from Apocalypse Now...he's in a shell of his own making, a world of his own, no one to tell him he's lost it.
You can hear it in his voice and in his stupid phrases he adds all these big words to unnecessarily, obviously, if you will.

Teryl Austin was brought in from outside and does represent new D thinking. Teryl was hired by the Steelers in 2019, the defense got really good in 2019. Coincidence? I'm not upset if he's the new DC.

I don't think guys at that level suffer imagined paranoia. If you've got a Ben, or Polamalu, maybe Harrison chirping to Deuce about a change, then you need your staff to have your back unconditionally. Or maybe Colbert doesn't think you're anywhere near a top-3 coach? Suddenly valuing loyalty above all else starts making some sense....And as an added bonus, who's going to believe a coach fired by Tomlin knows anything about football?langer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 11:19 pmI still think the dde is super paranoid, and is a lot like Col Kurtz from Apocalypse Now...he's in a shell of his own making, a world of his own, no one to tell him he's lost it.

Sorry but I blame Tomlin. His stunningly stupid lack of attention to details allows this shit to happen...Week after week. He's the head man and it is up to him to FIX IT. But he won't and he'll just blame the players and their "execution" What a fucking dope.BethlehemSteel wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 1:15 pmTalent stinks coaches stink. It all stinks

Just remember, it's not coaching, it's on the players always. When the rookie RB wants to talk to the HC about his job, he just has to figure it out on his own, and that's perfectly normal.
This team takes no guidance from old guys like Bill Walsh, those guys don't know anything.
What a bunch of jagoffs running this thing...makes Richie Kotite look like Lou Holtz...
Maybe that's not the best comparison or maybe it is.

Sadly Tomlin is in the same category for me as Kotite.langer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:14 pmJust remember, it's not coaching, it's on the players always. When the rookie RB wants to talk to the HC about his job, he just has to figure it out on his own, and that's perfectly normal.

Even fucking Kotite could win with the talent Tomlin has had at his disposal.
