Dude is a flat out stud, needs 10 plus targets a game, and DJ is the worst receiver on the team as my eyes tell me and so do these stats:
DJ last on Steelers in Following:
Catch rate - 56.7%
Yards per target - 5.0
Yards after catch - 1.3 (which is actually coming up after 1st 3 weeks)

% of targets ending in INT'S - 7.5%
Unfortunately he leads the team in targets by a lot, move Pickens to the 1 and maybe try DJ in the slot.

Watching these games, there is no No 1 WR in this scheme, if you will. They are all equally worthless in Coach Matt Canada's eyes.
It's like some weird Communist cult.
Someone would say feed George Pickens all day long, build him up, make him shine, he has incredible skills. Not this lowbrow leadership.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

Pickens is and should be the clear #1
Rookie or not
He is better than DJ and Claypool. And it’s not even close.
Can’t speak to his route running since I haven’t scrubbed any tape yet……maybe I’ll do that one night instead of binging a Netflix series
But catch radius, tough catches, footwork, tenacity, power, speed…..he’s got it all
Unfortunately he is playing within the confines of an incredibly JV offensive game plan, led by a dope HC and even more fucking stupid OC who never should have been hired

Like it or not, this offense (Tomlin's risk-averse one) has a player hierarchy to it. It's based on a matrix of seniority, pay, and Tomlin's earned clutch-ness factor. The reason DJ has more interceptions happen when the ball is thrown his way is a prime example of this stupid system.
Think back to the previous 7 games, to when we've REALLY needed a play to be made in the passing game, more often than not, it involves a ball being forced to DJ. A few times it's worked, but more often not.
I believe this 'matrix' is forced onto our QBs (lately the rookie, KP) making DJ the 1st read/primary target much of the time. It's a lazy, dumb, live-in-our-fears, risk-averse, and easily predictable way to approach modern offensive pro football.
They do the same thing with Najee. It's sad.

The way Pickens is getting screwed over makes me feel different about AB and JuJu...if it hastens the exit of Coach Mike, more of it. The team is a disorganized circus as is, make it moreso.
I would love to see Pickens go off on the sidelines and smash someone in the head with his helmet. He's due.

Not that they think on this level, but I could see them being reluctant to give Pickens more snaps because a demotion would further hurt Claypool's trade value.

Trade Claypool now. NOW. TODAY. Get a draft pick and bag of chips. Throw in DJ for good measure. Poof. We no longer have the need-to-feed Claypool problem or the DJ gives up interceptions problem. AND we have a couple extra draft picks, which we desperately need in order to get warm, breathing bodies into camp next year. And you now have the heart of the Steelers 2021 receiver corp. Enjoy.
Problem solved.

Claypool playing more will hurt Claypool's trade value imo.

He finally has a good game…TB
And then goes right back to the version we’ve become accustomed to

I fear that his nature, competitive and unhappy with losing is going to make him want off the team.
We finally get an Alpha on offense and we can't appease him.
Just throw the damn ball to him 15 times a game.

Yep. But 10 targets on avg would be ideal.
He actually can catch.

At the very least feature him more. In 2nd half of fins game I believe they had him as primary receiver on one play.

Claypool never looks like a natural WR to me. I don't want to say he has questionable hands but I don't love him. I'd rather trade DJ because I think he's a smurf and a mental midget. He can fuck right off. Clearly, PIckens should be WR#1 yet they remove him on goal line downs. He should never ever, ever get pulled on goal line plays for fucks sake.
This team is in shambles, trade DJ for whatever, take a deal from GB if they want to give us multiple picks for Claypool. I look forward to the rest of the game but I also hope we have a great fucking draft pick. Perfect scenario would be trade a player, acquire picks, if we pick top 5 so be it, trade down and get more picks, this team has gaping fucking holes everywhere.

If Ben was here (whatever) Pickens could have had a serious chance to run for rookie of the year. We could have watched that, even with losing...
BUT NOOOOOOooooooo Mitch Trubisky had to be signed, he is so mobile, and a veteran and that's all that's needed to plug in and make it all work so so good, if you will.
I would just like to finish out my days watching a good Steelers team that isn't run by imbeciles with stupid agendas and diarrhea of the mouth.
That ain't gonna happen, if you will, and so forf.
