For like the exact contract everyone assumed we were going to give him.

Yep, $33 mil/ 3 years.
$22 mil guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are thankful they have a backup QB for &10 mil.
Lions signed CB Cameron Sutton, formerly of the Steelers, to a three-year, $33 million contract.

Glad we didn't pay him that. $11M per is more than I think he's worth. I would've gone $8M per for 3 years max.

It would've been better to keep him but fortunately this CB class is so deep we could draft a CB in the 1st and one in the 4th/6th and still come away with two solid starters.

I may be in the minority but that’s a really bad start to FA
I didn’t want to be handcuffed into taking a CB at 17
Now I doubt they don’t take CB at 17

I said the exact same thing in another thread. Now they sprint to the podium for Porter Jr, or reach for the next best available like they did with Artie Burns.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.
Nepotism and drafting specific position of need, what could happen?Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:52 pmI said the exact same thing in another thread. Now they sprint to the podium for Porter Jr, or reach for the next best available like they did with Artie Burns.

They might even waste valuable draft capital, by moving up for him.
They’ll have like four draftees total

While I was hoping to retain Sutton and won't pretend he didn't play well last season, Sutton was on a "prove it" deal for a reason.
He didn't prove much until last season.
Good luck to him.

My guess is Rock Ya Sin because Tomlin loved him during the draft process a few years back and a podium sprint for Porter Jr.

Gerry Dulac should stay out of predicting fa moves.

Hopefully Roc is currently on the phone.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

There is some stupid money being thrown around today.
Hargrave going to the 49ers at 4 years, $80m
Denver is signing O-Lineman left and right. Oh, Baltimore just cut Calais Campbell and Ben Powers is now a Bronco. Love to see it
On Sutton, feels weird that he just got more $ than Jonathan Jones.

If only we had enough picks to fill the holes before Cam Sutton left.

Yep, it’s a lock for CB at 17, Porter if he’s gone it will be Banks.
Stupid. Just keep the Never had losing season streak going, and we’ll be good with that.

Yes because the Steelers have been so successful at drafting CB's over the Tomlin years.

And this is exactly the Steelers mindset.
The goal each season is not to suck…too much.
Any better results is just a cherry atop the sundae.

You mean, you didn’t enjoy the results of the Malik Reed trade?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:22 pmIf only we had enough picks to fill the holes before Cam Sutton left.
Yeesh, even with Sutton the Steeler's CBs are......not good. They now need to sign someone AND draft a CB high just to get back to....not good.
CB is a huge blind spot for the organization. Might be the most important position on defense but the Steelers don't treat it that way.
Analytics of player movement data show coverage is more important than pass rush with respect to overall pass defense. As with most things analytics, the Steelers think the exact opposite.
Better hope TJ stays healthy and gets like 30 sacks this year.

Well....if Sutton is out and they cut Witherspoon then they can afford Jamel Dean.
I can dream.

No worries….Steelers will win with their ferocious pass rush.TTP wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:33 pmYeesh, even with Sutton the Steeler's CBs are......not good. They now need to sign someone AND draft a CB high just to get back to....not good.

Maybe the Steelers don’t see Sutton’s abilities as worth that much coin?
