Worst case scenario exercise
All Steeler targets at draft slots are off the board. Others have abandoned football
Reach hard for at least 1 player
17 Dawand Jones OT OSU
Potential LT. Soul crushing RT floor
32 Julius Brents CB Kansas State
Some flaws but checks ALOT of boxes
49 Bryce Ford Wheaton WR West Virginia
Steelers scouts must have rental car back by 4pm for discount voucher at Applebees and fall in love quickly. Some flaws but has tools to develop and immediately presents a height mismatch for most defenses when paired with Pickens
80 Keondre Coburn NT Texas
Salivate over sack monsters all you want. The Steelers 3-4 must have a NT who can shut down the run.
120 Chase Brown RB Illinois
Solid inside runner with some receiving ability
241 Lonnie Phelps EDGE Kansas
Tough guy who likes football with some tools to develop. Was James Harrison much different when he came out ??
251 Shaka Heyward LB Duke
Plenty of jokes but not a horrible pick in the 7th

Yikes. That's a long smoke break the brain trust took between the Brents pick and coming back into the war room to continue the HeyWatt recombinant DNA experimentation in the 7th. Do kinda like Heyward, though. Very least, a ST guy.

Is that the one where he was mostly on the ground?

Everytime I went to watch Coburn, I just ended up enjoying Ojomo or Overshown

Can you post your ‘worst case scenario board’? It seems kinda dumb to take my #27 or whatever prospect when there’s a 100% chance one of my top 17 will be there.
Overshown is my sleeper ILB choice at 49 or 80 (not sure he's going to last until 80... but 49 feels too high)bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 12:29 pmEverytime I went to watch Coburn, I just ended up enjoying Ojomo or Overshown
Anywho
Thursday can't get here soon enough

You’ve missed the point
The Steelers will have to fuck up LARGE to screw up THIS draft the way they normally do

Overshown’s biggest issue is that Marte Mapu is the same size, faster, and better—and was there for direct comparison at the Senior Bowl. I started the year with Overshown as my #1 off ball and he’s still quite good but the more you see him the more you can see that there are some shortcomings. Really quick but sometimes that quickness will take him to the wrong place. Won’t hate it if he’s the pick but he’s a little further down this list at this point.anpsteel wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:26 pmOvershown is my sleeper ILB choice at 49 or 80 (not sure he's going to last until 80... but 49 feels too high)bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 12:29 pmEverytime I went to watch Coburn, I just ended up enjoying Ojomo or Overshown

Gervon Dexter is a player the Steelers brought in who I want no part of. He always seems to be the last player off the snap. When 338lb Nt Keenlan Landry is beating him off the snap all the time, I crossed Dexter off my list.

i think this is verbatim a consensus review of Stephon Tuitt before that draft (probably was someone other than Landry used for comparison at the time).
That said, i’m not a fan of dexter either; profiles as a poor man’s ziggy hood in every way.

But the Steelers were actually reported to be hosting 36 visitors. Four players either had scheduled visits to Pittsburgh or were reported as visiting Pittsburgh that eventually did not. The one that didn’t end up coming to Pittsburgh included some big names, as well: Florida defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, Ohio State tackle Dawand Jones, Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes and Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo.
I'm scared as hell of:
1. Dawand - I saw his pro day interview. He was 400+ I have no doubt about it. From the combine to pro day, he had a straight McDonalds KFC diet. What will happen when he gets paid? Scares me.
2. Bresee - Inconsistent as hell; terrible form; plays too tall for me; injury prone. Too big of a gamble to be an early pick.
3. Trenton Simpson - I have no clue where he fits and he has no clue what is going on around him. Great athlete, but this is football.
4. Nolan Smith - I know a lot of you LOVE Nolan Smith. I struggle with him. He looks way too lean. I have no clue how he weighed in at 238 at the combine. He looks 220. He's just missing a lot of mass and bulk. He doesn't have the length or bend or size to play NFL Edge. So what about ILB? I'm hearing he says no to that. But, even if he was on board, I don't think I want a strong safety body being my ILB.
5. Dexter - If Dexter got off the snap properly, he'd be a round 1 lock. Great talent. But, if you have such poor reaction time after college, there has got to be something wrong with you. There is NO WAY the Gators coaches didn't try to work on that with him...and he STILL sits there for almost a second after the ball is snapped doing nothing. It's weird.
