Realizing Tomlin won't win another playoff game, ever
The Steelers last won a playoff game in 2016...at this point that is 7 years ago. Tomlin is in his 17th season as the Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and I bet he sticks around until he makes it an even 20 and then retires. (We all know he will not and cannot be fired).
Given the current roster, lack of a promising NFL caliber QB, impotent coordinators and assistant coaches, and the relative strength of the AFCN, I don't see Mike winning another playoff game for the next 3 seasons.
So I think he ends his 20 year tenure with a 10 year playoff victory drought. In retrospect we will all say they should have pulled the plug long ago instead of letting the team rot in mediocrity for the past decade.
But hindsight will be 20/20, as they say...

Weighty downs aside, would you want to see Mike’s team in the playoffs anyways?
Playoffs at this point is just the NHALS cherry on top. He would get destroyed by virtually any opponent/opposing coaching staff. He’d be trying to impose his will meanwhile the guys in the other jerseys would be coached and schemed to run circles around us.
Tomlin’s record aside, that’s what the ball washers and national media rarely admit/point out. When Tomlin loses he really loses big. One of the more amazing stats following that ass beating on Sunday was that was the 8th time in three years that the Steelers have been beaten by 20 or more points. That’s wildly embarrassing considering how close most NFL games are.
So while I kept saying over and over again on Sunday that it was the worst Steeler game I’ve ever watched, truth be told there have been a handful just like that in recent years. The two that come to mind are the Bengals beat down where Mike Hilton picked Ben off for the pick 6 and obviously the opening day disaster three weeks ago against the Niners.
It’s a cloud of shit.

This is from last year. No playoffs last year.
Most likely, no playoffs this year.

https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2022/ ... -bye-week/When Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media on Wednesday he hinted that he hasn’t ruled out significant changes during the bye week but did make a point to specify there would be no coaching changes.
So what does it mean? We will take plenty of time to speculate but for now, let’s just be happy to recognize that the Steelers haven’t thrown in the towel and Tomlin is willing to bend a bit to help make the team better.
“We’ve got to write that story. We’ve got enough talent, we’ve got enough schematics to do big, big things. When I say big things, I’m talking about historic things.”
I do note that Tomlin did not, in fact, get his contract extended his off-season.
I am putting my slim, slim hopes in that…

True. However, one of the PPG guys basically said the extension WILL come after the season.
Although, I wouldn't expect any signal/leak to do anything other than confirm support for Tomlin. Behind closed doors, hopefully, Tomlin has been told he has to start winning playoff games.
But Tomlin looks different to me. Despite the supposed media insiders saying otherwise, I think Tomlin's seat has actually gotten quite warm.

I'm old.
Not ancient but old enough to remember the golden years of the 70's.
At the end of the decade I think we all knew the team was getting old as well but championships would still come.
Yeah, right.
Waited 26 years for the next one.
I called it the ice age of the Steelers.
Now we are in a second ice age having been denied a serious chance at another championship going on 13 years.
I'm not optimistic about winning another SB as long as Deuce is running the team and Mikey is around. I'm sure with either of those two still in place the next 13 years we won't win another SB.
So very sure of it.
Win another playoff game?
Sure but as an old fuck time is slipping away.
Need a total overhaul of ownership and coaching staff.
NHALS is the standard now.

Since when does winning playoff games matter? As long as we're 9-8 or 8-8-1 we're better off than half the teams in the league, every year.
Strive for mediocrity. Theres low risk and predictable reward in mediocrity. Businessman like low risk and predictability.
I've said before, , 'Good is the enemy of Great' will be on the epitaph of Tomlin's coaching career.

Everyone keeps bringing up how we haven't won a playoff game in 7 years.
We've only won playoff games in just TWO of the last 12 years. Kind of like, read the press clippings and you think Tomlin is winning playoff games in bunches. But then you look at the actual data....

What???
Will he take away water bottles until after practice too?
I think I remember this from when I played football as a youngster in the 70s.Practice attire

Winning anything if significance doesn’t matter. As long as we squeak out .500 why hit her evaluating this great coach on anything tangible.
It’s pathetic.
Dunce has ZERO fucking fire.
When you know those who run the team you follow do not care, it’s really hard to care yourself.
I’m hoping some of these minority owners are finally tired of Jibb’s bullshit artist routine.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

This useless cunt doesn’t have a single solution up his sleeve.
Play harder. Dress in proper practice attire. Execute.
In other words, it’s all you and not me.

Why cant he just say they're going to put pads on or something.
He is such a fucking imbecile trying to sound smart.
He unwittingly just looks like someone trying to sound smart, unless he's lampooning someone trying to sound smart, like that prison guy on In Living Color or something.
He has severe communication problems, but hey, he could be a CEO and shit.

I hope it is "only" 20 and Tomlin doesn't end up sticking around for 25 years. Even at 25 years in he will only be 59? 60? I have been a fan since the mid 60's and would hope to see the Steelers get one more ring but the clock is ticking and I truly think MT and ownership think everything is just fine.

I don’t buy this premise at all.
He is not going to be fired in a traditional sense, but I can see him being forced out with a golden parachute framed as a moving on for greener pastures. This is not out of the realm of possibility.
If it's anything other than a figurehead position, it's even more frightening. If they were to make Tomlin President or COO or something like that, I'd probably start looking for a new team.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:25 pmI don’t buy this premise at all.

I would guess NFL exec or networks! Also, if he wants to continue coaching, he might need another team as much as we think he needs off our team; might be a recipe for success for both parties.Kodiak. wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:29 pmIf it's anything other than a figurehead position, it's even more frightening. I'm not sure Tomlin is interested in a gig that requires him to watch other games....LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:20 pmI would guess NFL exec or networks!
