Kenny showing instant improvement in the middle of the field and with Muth. Room/need for one more pass catching tight end?

job for a day...

TE Zach Ertz has requested & been granted his release from the Arizona Cardinals.

The 3-Time Pro Bowler plans to sign with a contender and make a run at his 2nd Super Bowl ring.

(This is easy Adam)

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

No on all counts.

He's no better a route runner/pass catcher than Connor Heyward at this point let alone Pat Freiermuth. Even if you disagree and wanted to bring in Ertz at Heyward's expense, you'd need to find a ST replacement since Ertz hasn't done that in 6+ years.

DW fills a different role than what Ertz offers, so I can't imagine that would be on the table.

While I agree with you on all counts and I see absolutely no scenario that Ertz will or could ever be a Steeler, if Freiermuth goes down again, Kenny is basically screwed.

At this point in his career, Washington is an extra tackle who can catch a short pass and get a first down. Nothing wrong with that for a rookie and he's really beginning to help in the run game.

That said, Connor Heyward, who played so well last year, has been all but invisible in the offense and doesn't look to be the seam threat he was last year. Don't know if that was our offense under Canada or Heyward simply isn't sneaking up on people in 2023.

Ertz would probably be really nice insurance for Freiermuth, who let's face it, is injury prone as all fuck.

There just isn't any room for the guy.

Heyward is averaging more YPC than Ertz this season, if you can believe it.

More than anything I just think Ertz is cooked and not worth looking at

I agree that Ertz is probably finished. Freiermuth at 100% is probably not that far off from Ertz in his prime but sadly, Freiermuth is rarely at 100% and I don't expect he'll stay healthy this year

I hope Sullivan and Faulkner get Washington and Heyward more involved and somehow Freiermuth is healthy late in the season and for the playoffs.

This week I don't expect Freiermuth to be a huge factor. The Cardinals have good safeties and the pressure is going to be on the WR's and the running game if we're going to score enough to handle Arizona.

Their safeties may be good, but Arizona's cornerbacks FUCKING B.L.O.W. Their best guy is a 30 year old journeyman who's played on 5 teams and didn't start until this year. On the other side is a UDFA Rookie signed off of Detroit's practice squad. Oh, btw, both are hurt and haven't practiced this week.

If DJ doesn't rebound with a dominant performance on Sunday he deserves to be fired into the sun.
