Cameron Johnston to Pittsburgh!

Johnston, 32, 5-11, 194lbs is a P entering his 7th season from Victoria, Australia

A very consistent punter, Johnston had a career year in 2023

Stats:
• 47.7 Yards Per Punt
• 30 downed in the 20
• 3 touchbacks

A much needed addition.

Before the last three years in HOU, Cameron Johnson (err... Bill Burr  ) spent his first three seasons with PHI.

Weidl strikes again!

I'm way more excited about this than any football fan should ever be regarding a punter.

Always good to add another Buckeye ;)

This is, honestly, going to probably add a win or two next season.

So, do the Texans have an abundance of depth at the position?

Why are they allowing him to sign elsewhere?

In the past 3 years Johnston has had 104 punts downed inside the 20 vs. 11 touchbacks. I've never looked at that stat (or punter stats tbh), but that seems pretty good. Harvin's career is 75/14.

He's a pasty-white red head. Probably didn't want to spend another August in Houston.

😆😂

You'd think, growing up in Australia, his skin would be leather by now.

Aw geez…just what we need, a punter without a soul!

Soul or not, if he can get it within the 20 on the regular I'll take him.

I’ll miss our punter booming a 60 yarder from midfield into the EZ and on his next punt, shanking it 27 yards from our own 15 yard line.

Good times

So why do the Steelers make him the highest paid punter in the league? I am sure they could have call outs at OTA's and try 20 punters out who will be as good or better and cheaper.

He's really good and really consistent. Now I don't have to worry about the 4th quarter shank in key situations. Good signing.

Those shanked punts have been among the most exciting plays coming from that side of the ball.

We might end up missing them…
