DeShon Elliott complained after the game that he thought our practices this week lacked the right focus and attention to detail.

Seems to be a yearly theme around these parts anymore. Predictable. These dudes win a few rock fights to start the year in the glorified preseason part of the season and think they're '85 Bears.

Sounds like Elliott wants to get benched. No one questions the coaching of Hall of Famer Mike Tomlin.tbsteel wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:30 pmDeShon Elliott complained after the game that he thought our practices this week lacked the right focus and attention to detail.

I've said it many times over the years... and this is just another example...
The Steelers lose more games before kickoff than any team in football.

Sorry
Most of you haven’t played team sports seriously
Players calling out teammates can often be a good thing
At some point you have to realize coaches can only do so much
You know who has a lot to answer for Low Watt Heyward probably Minkah too probably a few others
Low Watt and Heyward are good guys but DAMN do they have the disappearing act down pat
When guys like that get elevated to uncriticizable by most of a homer fanbase your team is gonna suffer for years
As I’ve tried to make clear many times before
This team really lacks the ability to close out games
To slam the door as it were

I'm only half-joking when I talk about taking weeks off and mini-bye weeks.
Tomlin believes, and he's not entirely wrong, that you can't expect 110% every week and the mental fatigue can be as real as the physical. Bill Belicheat doesn't believe that.
And when you think the playoffs are just a lottery ticket, than there's no payoff fighting for a #1 seed when a #7 seed has "the same chance".

This applies in hockey just need a ticket because it is 7 game series. NFL (Not For Long) according to Jerry Glanville is a one-and-done playoff tourney.
Tomlin and staff should be held accountable.
1. Colts come out no huddle and we act like we've never seen it. Completely unprepared even on subsequent series.
2. Colts kept spreading us out and isolating ILBs on the WRs. We had no answer...as we haven't in years. They carved the middle of the field up and it was embarrassing.
3. The Colts D had 8-9 men in the box AND they were run blitzing. Running into those boxes with Najee is just suicide and yet we kept doing it. It's no coincidence btw that Patterson was ripping off runs while Najee MISSED holes multiple times.
So, yeah, certainly players on D didn't show up. Yes, Pickens is a moron on that fumble and so is Fields on his fumble. All of that cost us. But we lost the game because we were 17-0 down before we even knew what was going on.
Coaching failure of epic proportions.

Btw, our two TE sets suck. No threat of pass whatsoever. No one is scared of it. They just stack the box and attack downhill.
Unless Tomlin is willing to make teams pay for that, we will have 1.9 YPC days from Najee.

They have to spread out of the package. There was one play where the Colts were lost on D when PIT went hurry up with big bodies and went 4 wide nobody knew who to match up with. It worked like a charm and that was the last we saw of it the rest of the game.
