Steelers Score Game Week 12 (+ results)

Post by Mick » Tue Nov 19, 2024 1:27 pm

Post steelers/browns scores here. Get them in quick, not much time this week.

Steelers 24. Browns 18

Week 11 results:
Some good a lot of bad. Steelafan77 wins the week with an excellent 20-17 prediction for 27 points. Honorable mention to gpclay and stillerdownsouth, the only other two entries earning at least 20 points. Generally a lot less scoring than we expected.

Cumulative season results:
We have a new leaders. Steelafan77 and Texas Black and Gold jump to the top of the leaderboard this week, albeit with TTP failing to submit an entry. The cumulative lead is actually pretty tight right now, with three other posters within 6 points of the lead (czechsteeler, rooneytunes, and TTP).

I can see a score like this. The Browns are demoralized and the fight doesn't seem to be in them anymore.

I need to get back in this score game.
I need to catch up. Nail a big week.

But will volunteer some insight for my fellow players. lol.

Steelers have only given up 162 points in 10 games.
Browns have scored only 162 in 10 games.
The Browns have scored more than 18 in a game....ONCE
17, 18, 15, 16, 13, 16, 14, 29, 10, 14.

( 29 against the Ravens was an aberration and against a bad Ravens secondary that was surprised by Winston )

Pretty consistently low teens.
Chargers held them to 10.
Only the Chargers ( 145 ) have given up fewer total points than the Steelers.

I do not know, but would place the over under on Cleveland points at 13.5

No jinks here, only way the Browns score more than 14, is if they have a defensive TD, kick or punt return.

Problem with these type of games for Tomlin over the years....
He is Ok with shooting for 17.

But beware of the let down to a dud of a team.
Last year, week 14, Thursday Night football vs New England
Got down 21-3 in 2nd quarter vs. the Pats, before losing 21-18. At home.

TNF has not been kind.

2022 - lost to Cleveland on Thursday Night Football, week 3.
2021 - lost to the Vikings on TNF
2020 - NA
2019 - lost to Cleveland on Thursday Night Football, week 11, 21-7

I don't think Tomlin likes running up the score. He thinks long term and realizes the teams will meet again. No need to create unnecessary motivation.

It certainly keeps games close.

Our last win on TNF was the 2018 beating thrown down on Carolina and Cam Newton
52-21

2017, beat Titans 40-17

2016, beat Colts 28-7

I was thinking of the 2009 shiteshow at the Mistake by the Lake that the Stillers lost 13-6 to a 1-11 Eric Mangini-coached Brownies team. I went back and looked at the boxscore. 15 degrees, 25 mile an hour winds, Ben sacked 8 times although oddly zero turnovers in the game. 16 punts - 8 for each team!

I feel like maybe Najee and Jaylen can pound it enough to score enough points on a sloppy field so I am going to say

Stillers 23
Brownies 13

Crap, I forgot to submit my entry last week and lost the lead. Then again, I probably wasn't going to get a whole lot of points as I was leaning towards a high scoring rats win.

Steelers - 17
Browns - 10

Low scoring, sloppy, bad-weather AFC Norfh football! Just the way we like it!

We'll see what kind of team this is. I've been down on them all season, but I will be a bit optimistic:

yeah i went with a modestly high scoring ravens win, and my entry was good for six points.

On further review tho, there will be 3 points for missed entries for week 11 (the second lowest score for the week was 4 points). Making the current cumulative lead very close.
