Doorslammers Browns
Lots of guys probably deserve a mention
Benton with the pick was the beginning of putting an upset believing foe behind the 8-ball
Warren yet again chipped in with multiple clutch plays
Russ Wilson continues to show he was born to be a Steeler
All the receiving targets stepped up big time in Pickens absence.
Low Watt made a play early in the game
Waitman fucking buried the Browns punting from the end zone late twice. The fumble was an absolute MONSTER. After the Browns got the Steelers to 4th and 25
Skowronek’s fumble recovery is exactly the type of play better teams get from 3rd stringers who are all the way bought in
Boswell continued his NFL MVP deserving season
Three Steelers stood out however and were truly Doorie worthy
OC Artie Smith without the Steelers best player and only really dangerous weapon George Pickens called a masterful game. Breaking tendencies all game long. Throwing on 1st down. Throwing from run looks. Running from pass looks. Challenging all levels of the field. Involving the RBs in the passing game. QB keepers and RPOs. All were on the field numerous times today
Elandon Roberts stop on 4th down was not only a big play it was dominate and signaled the beginning of the end for the Browns earlier than most Steelers nail biters
Oft maligned backup James Pierre closed things out with a back breaking interception late refusing to allow the Steelers to give away the game
Way to slam that door men !!

How could you not mention Warren, the special teams, Artie Smith, Roberts and Pierre?

It was a complete team slamming door.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

Pretty good summary! Putting Roberts in made it complete.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 9:15 pmLots of guys probably deserve a mention

Smiths play calling dramatically improved after the first quarter
Still more touches for Harris than I’d like
On defense, Cam had a heck of a game
Elliot, Queen, and JPJ (in run support) played really well
The next aspect on D that was nice to see, was they threw in more blitz packages and brought pressure from different players

James Pierre slammed the door on a possible epic Stains comeback.

It helped that Warren started getting touches instead of other RBs. Warren was fast today—faster than he has looked all season.anpsteel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:01 pmSmiths play calling dramatically improved after the first quarter

Warren needs to start, there I said it, Najee can come in later to slam a door, they need to flip those touches.
DeShon Elliott is balling out, maybe the best tackler in the secondary the Steelers have had in years…..
I thought Brodrick had a good game, he’s been the good quiet since his uncertain start of the year, maybe he’s getting healthy..
Russ playing smart football, big advantage there headed into the late part of the season, him and ART are the Chef & Sous….

I think it's matchup dependent.chippedhamsandwich wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:25 pmWarren needs to start, there I said it, Najee can come in later to slam a door, they need to flip those touches.
Warren is better suited against teams like Cleveland and Kansas City that like to one gap / get upfield with their front seven.

Pierre’s second game changing play of the day.
His ST’s play making the tackle stopping that return from going to the house was pivotal.
The INT should be routine at this point of his career. Couldn’t have come at a better time.
‘Tip’ of the cap to Pierre today.

Warren isn't going to start in PIttsburgh. Not as long as Tomlin is the head coach.chippedhamsandwich wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:32 pmI don’t think we are watching the same game…SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:31 pmThat would be a horrible ideachippedhamsandwich wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:25 pmWarren needs to start, there I said it, Najee can come in later to slam a door, they need to flip those touches.

I am talking about the Steelers….
Tomlin likes bigger backs. Road graders with some giddy up like Bell, Conner and Harris.
Warren will always be a change of pace guy in Pittsburgh. Always.
Sure, will there be games where Warren is more effective than Harris, so Harris will se a lot more touches in that contest?
Sure, but Harris is the starter and if he leaves, they will almost certainly draft their bell cow this April....and Warren will be the change of pace guy to the new bell cow.
That's just how Tomlin rolls.

Parker had established himself as a bell cow the previous year, when he scored like 15 TD's on the ground.Boukman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:05 pmHe did run Willie Parker’s wheels off tho…Warren is shorter but a little bit heavier thanFWP.K_C_ wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 10:57 pmWarren isn't going to start in PIttsburgh. Any coach would have started Parker and used him as the guy.
Parker, also undersized like Warren, soon proved that his body couldn't hold up to the pounding.....and nobody was a bigger fan of Willie Parker than I was.
I love Warren but I seriously don't want him carrying the ball 25 times per game. I think he'd get killed.

Guy is a true pro and gives us something we’ve not had since Benjisan retired.
Soooooo refreshing and has made watching this team enjoyable again.
Painful watching our previous QBs struggle to squeak out 120 passing yards weekly with maaaaaaybe a TD once every couple of weeks.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.
