No doubt Tomlin needs to go, but if you were running this team, who would you offer a contract to on this list?

Warren is about it for me.
25 players are free agents, almost half the team, the entire QB room and 2/3 of the RB room, this team needs to do a lot better at drafting.

Some team is going to sign Dan Moore and eventually move him to RT and he'll probably be a decent player.
Sort of like a few other former Steelers OL castoffs who have looked remarkably better once not being squared pegged into a round hole.

Warren is RFA, he’s back. I’d consider Dontae Jackson unless they can sign a younger and better corner.

He refuses to play RT. He will be a starting LT somewhere
I really doubt a third round draft choice came in dictating terms to Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin decided he was a LT because he had always played LT and Dan Moore was fine with that because LT's get paid more and he didn't have to adapt.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:38 amHe refuses to play RT. Jackson statistically has been on the bottom 5% of CBS this year—I’m done with him.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:37 amWarren is RFA, he’s back. I’d consider Dontae Jackson unless they can sign a younger and better corner.

Yeah, well unfortunately they will probably re-sign about half of those fuckers and just run it back.

Should have played Trice over him tonight, but I'm pretty sure he was inactive.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:41 amJackson statistically has been on the bottom 5% of CBS this year—I’m done with him.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:37 amWarren is RFA, he’s back. Yeah, probably need at least 1 QB on the roster going into next year, if he would take about 10 million a year I would consider it, if not draft one and sign a couple rookie free agents, couldn't be worse than rolling with Duck and Mason that year.

Maybe go with a combination of Jaxson Dart and Will Howard in the mid to late rounds.
Pretty sure he was a 4th rounder. But your point still valid.CKSteeler wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:39 amI really doubt a third round draft choice came in dictating terms to Mike Tomlin. The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

There was a reason the Panthers were going to release him before the season started.
Had a solid start to the year, and to be fair, I don't think his shoulder was right most of the year, but otherwise.... big woof.

Maybe roll the dice on a former 1st round QB like Mac Jones or Trey Lance, idk. I really think this team needs a couple of 4-13 type seasons and needs to get lucky and land a franchise QB with all the tools in the 2026 or 2027 draft.

We have no
QB,
#2 WR,
#2 CB,
#1 RB,
#2 ILB
They also BADLY need a couple of new starters on the DL. And they need to figure out who plays LT.

And likely #1 WR is on his way out of town, not to mention all the main guys on defense are getting older, we are in football hell for a while.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 4:55 amWe have no

If the Steelers don't re-sign Wilson, does any team offer him a contract?
How many guys do we have to see leave here and miraculously become good players? Get the coach and let him evaluate the players. I don't care who they sign or don't sign until that happens because it doesn't matter. I fully expect them to give one of the shitty QBs way too much money and sign/draft guys to run the same overly conservative shit next season. The names have changed over the last decade. The product on the field hasn't except the few times 7 was able to carry them to a playoff win or two against somebody's backup.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

there is not one player on this team that i would not trade for draft picks.
this should be the biggest group of fa leaving this team.

I’d tank next year because you need a franchise quarterback.
But of the free agents, while most of these players are bottom feeders on a roster, other than a couple of veteran minimum deals I’d only bring back Warren (obviously, as Tomlin would say), and on reasonable deals, Fields and Roberts.

100%. The evaluation machinery is absolutely in tatters. Hire the new head guy, draft and evaluate and then the real work starts.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:06 amHow many guys do we have to see leave here and miraculously become good players? I like:
Kazee - he's got some game to him. Plus say goodbye to Minkah, so need some guys at safety.
Warren stays, period. He's my number 1 next year.
Kyle Allen - he's my starting QB because I am tanking for a QB. I don't want to win 1 fucking game next year!
McCollum - didn't do too bad as a backup center.
Roberts - one of the only guys that has some heart on D.
Skowronek for now.
Everyone else rides into the sunset and is burned up by the sun!
Sell off every decent guy we have on the team. Keep the coaching staff because they are total shit and will help us secure the number 1 pick in the draft - then they all hit the street, preferably face first!

Folks talking about tanking are seriously living in Fantasyland.

No the Steelers would never tank
It’s just the wrong term
To achieve the desired outcome of winning playoff games/resetting the organization, the Steelers first need to bottom out (perhaps that occurred last night).
Then someone with balls in the front office needs to trade off veteran assets for draft picks the way Belichick fearlessly did with Richard Seymour and Lawyer Milloy etc (although he did that to CONTINUE winning titles).
After the vets depart, NHALS dies, and the unintentional losing takes its natural course leaving the Steelers in position to draft their next franchise quarterback …right around the time Tomlin’s contract expires.
In the meantime leave those voicemails, send those emails, rent billboards and planes if it helps you cope with yesterday’s throughly unsurprising playoff debacle.
