Peters on Steelers' Radar?

Post by Obviously » Tue Feb 17, 2015 1:49 pm

Dulac thinks so: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/stee ... 1502160084

General manager Kevin Colbert was asked if he would consider a player who was dismissed from his college team.

"You're going to look at a player's body of work as a player and his body of work as a person and try to figure out what happened," Colbert said. "In any kind of character evaluation, you have to look for what's the truth and whether or not you want to deal with the truth. That's really the decision that has to come.

"If there's a player that has something we'll try to find out what the truth is and whether or not we think we should take the risk. Or whether that player is worth the risk based on, not his talent, but his ability to be able to overcome whatever his issue was."

B2B's guy just might be the pick at 22.

I hope they look hard cause the kid is a player if he there @22 I would hope the steelers pull the trigger then go OLB in rounds 2-3 if they want.

I think that's some serious reading between the lines by Dulac. They're doing their homework, as they should.

This.

Of course he is on their radar. Our corners are less than adequate. No offense to guys like McCain, Gay, etc.....but we need a serious upgrade.

They'll do their due diligence on Peters and hopefully make a decision on his "draftability."

Potential team cancer as a first rounder? Will never happen.

I dont have the url but perhaps it was last year that Colbert said in essence first rounders are can't miss even if the ceiling isn't unlimited. A potential team cancer doesn't fit that bill. If he's around in R2 then there is a real chance.

He's gone before #22 anyway.

Trae Waynes or Collins will be the pick.

Waste of time

Didn't they just see how the "can't miss guy ." Jarvis jones fucked them... Hard. There's even more risk in selecting a guy who's physically overmatched. What we need is home run swings- hit 1 of 3 and you're in the hall of fame.

Whether you are right or wrong, your particular crusade on measurables has about zero chance of becoming reality.

They are going to keep drafting big school high production guys in the first round.

Not disagreeing with you at all, but you and I both know the "Steeler way" will not allow them to do that. I guarantee Tomlin falls in love with Waynes & Collins.

One more thing, you're an intelligent guy, why are you writing off Jarvis so quickly? He was playing well prior to the wrist injury. He was definitely making an impact in the Carolina game in which he got hurt. I really hope Jarvis shuts a lot of people up next year.

Steelers won't draft character issues. In fact, I think they're probably more focused than ever on character and team guys after being kind of burned recently.

Watch Peters last until 32 and Belicheat fall over himself running to the podium

I can't fathom how he'll get past 31.

Hey I'm all for high production guys in Rd 1-- how are also outlier athletes... Like Jamie Collins.

I thought he literally fell into a strip sack and I do not agree he was playing well.

I'll be beyond thrilled and surprised if Jarvis has a big impact, especially as an edge rusher. I think his only hope is a move to 4-3, where I think he'd be great.

Agreed. But was Collins really that guy? Looking at the NFL final prospect ratings they had Jones rated 88.8 and Collins 68.8. You may have been on Collins, but not many were, and there was no certainty that he would ever be a starter in the league.

FWIW his NFL comparison was Clark Haggans

Me too. The play JJ got hurt on, apparently he did some special things to get that sack.

As far as Peters, most of the guys who are true shut down guys have a bit of outlaw in them. The issue is if he doesnt know or care where the line is- we could be looking a WTF situation. The interview and the pro day visit are going to determine if we are going to draft him. Polian said once that the Colts took the word of a sports mental psychologist as the definitive word on whether or not to draft a guy after everything else checked out. He said that they had overwhelming success staying away from problem guys. Hopefully the Steelers are doing the same thing.

I believe that Peters can come in here and be a star but I want at least an 8 year contributor. I'd say that possibility is less than 50/50 based on his position and talent. We have a huge need but I hope this guy can overcome and be a good pro
