Cancelled TV shows that you'd bring back
I've been pissed that a few shows have been cancelled but none as much as Carnivale on HBO. This show lasted two seasons and was headed in the right direction. Unfortunately it only lasted two seasons. I'd love for Netflix or someone else to pick it up, but since it's been so long the likelihood is next to 0

Family Guy.
Oh...wait...
John from Cincinnati was a show I was into.
There was a dystopian series I saw on netflix that was good. Can't remember the name.

There was a show that was on that I loved as a kid...pretty sure it was actually awful...but it was called...Dark Skies? Alien show that came on one of the major networks.
I wish they'd bring the Simpsons back, because whatever show that took over for it when it got cancelled about 15 years ago is awful.
Twin Peaks
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
My Name is Earl...if only to get a true ending

Men Behaving Badly aired in the late 90's after Seinfeld. I thought it was tremendous show but obviously others didn't since it only aired for a season or two.

Invasion and the show about the NFL that got cancelled.
VanWilder wrote:Falling Skies maybe? It's been awhile.
Don't believe it's been canceled...usually comes out @July.
I liked "V", even "Terminator"...and Stargate Atlantis...I thought Dracula looked really promising. Man, if you don't follow the network magic formula you get a very short rope.
Actual shows that proved to be quality after just a year or two: Deadwood, Rome and Southland (which was originally canceled and picked-up by TNT, then canceled 2-3 seasons later).
Another show that was great and they even were a little vocal that the network canceled them because their audience was too old was Boston Legal....ohh, and Boston Public.

Deadwood and Rome were great. From what I remember, it was just too damn expensive to make those shows.

Arrested Development is the obvious example. Though it's been resurrected on Netflix and sort of on Archer.
John from Cincinatti was pretentious drivel. And I like surfing. Ed O'Neil went from that to playing Sofia Vergara's husband, a big step up.
I hope Silicon Valley makes it. Love that show.

Those are/were my fav shows. Along with the Unit and about a half dozen others I cant think of right now..
Seems like they cancel every good show on tv and put some fucked up reality show on.. If I could I would cancel every fucking reality show on TV.. it drags society down... I mean really who the fuck watches Trailer park TV ... Oh ya cant wait for Myrtle Manor to come on then follow that up with look how big Kim's ass is this week and how much cross dressing Bruce can do..
All of those shows make me sick..
Bring back good quality Leave it to Beaver type shows and try to salvage our miss guided youth.

Reality TV has killed network television in many ways. Now it's all about instant gratification and if a show takes a long time to develop it usually only lasts a season. It's much cheaper to throw some has been actor or no-name into a show on primetime than it is to build a meaningful show these days. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but it's generally the case. In most cases I've stopped watching anything CBS, NBC, or ABC put out because the likelihood of it lasting more than a season is about 30%.
On the flip side you have stations like HBO, Showtime, FX, AMC, and Netflix that produce high quality drama but you pay for it. For decades movies were the big draw, but I'd argue television is becoming the more high quality medium for entertainment. Movies nowadays are ridiculous comedies, comic books, or re-makes. I'd much rather binge watch a show on Netflix, Showtime Anytime, Amazon Prime, or HBO Go than shell out $30+ to go to the movies.

I've always wanted to watch Jericho on Netflix. I might add that to my list.
I'm trying to get through the West Wing right now. I'm about 1/2 through season 1

DEADWOOD! Still pisses me off that they got rid of that - stupid.
Still saddens me that Freaks and Geeks lasted just one season.

Forgot about Terminator, I was into it. There were two shows on at the same time with sleeper agent assassins that I thought were good too. I think Alias, with the chick from Jay & silent Bob strike back, & 1 with Christian Slater. Thought both were good.
John from Cincinnati wasn't really about surfing, although it had that element...I thought it was good, if directionless.
Am I the only one that can't fucking stand The Big Bang Theory? I tried it out about 4 times & a bit of my soul dies every time.

I thought Rome just followed the life and aftermath of Julius Caesar, and I thought it did it really well. I didn't think it was canceled. I could have been wrong. Gotta try and get into Deadwood.

I guess I'll go ahead, pull my geek card out of my wallet and give this one a thumbs up. Still waiting on that movie or two that SciFi promised before they became Syfy and showed little but wrestling and movie reruns.

You've got a great foundation with all the history and scenery. It got the budget ax after two years (because of the expense of the costumery and set design), but IMO it was Game of Thrones without Martin's bullshit.
HBO has had a lot of great shows, but Rome's first two seasons were as good as any of them.

Mind of the married man on HBO was hilarious. I think it was only on for 2 years.

I'm not sure what "George RR Martin's bullshit" is, unless you mean not getting the rest of the damn series written fast enough, then I am in total agreement. GOT is pretty much the only television show I will specifically pay 10 extra bucks a month to see.
