College Football week 6

Post by Ice » Sat Oct 12, 2019 9:32 pm

Looking forward to some big games on a Buckeye bye week this weekend.

Any thoughts on UF/LSU or PSU/Iowa? I have a feeling chalk is gonna take the day in both matchups. Iowa, no offense. I just can't see UF scoring with Burrow and LSU, either.

Drama's Dawgs going down to The Other USC today certainly moves some things around in the top five already. Probably to be replaced by the winner of UF/LSU, honestly.

Would dearly love it if USC could knock off Notre Dame, but even if their WRs are better than what ND's secondary has seen this year, I just don't think they have the horses.

I can tell you, both with USC game today and especially Chargers tomorrow... the smoke here really tired us out today— like playing sports while smoking cigs.

Edwards-Hilaire looks like a decent RB prospect.

Yes, my Dawgs went down today in painful double OT fashion. Damn Rodrigo. The "Dawgs OL is overrated as is my guy Fromm. Zero Pass rush.
I shouldn't be because he's brought a much needed culture change to Athens, but I'm starting to go down the same path with Kirby that I did with Tomlin a few years back. Not carbon copies, but both coach in their fears, obviously.

LSU in a fun game. They're having same issues as 'Bama in that they've got a lot of talent on defense but are giving up a lot of points. Odd to see LSU with a potent, modern offense. Well done, Ed.

As much as I like LSU and Bama I think the Buckeyes might be the team to beat. Wisconsin boasting a defense with 4 shutouts but they aint seen nothin' like the offense Ryan Day has put together.

Due to the UGA chaos I didn't see much of Jalen Hurts today, but he and Ceedee Lamb are a deadly duo.

I honestly don't sweat Clemson, but they'll of course be there in the end.

Lawrence looked a good bit more like CFP Lawrence today than in weeks previous. Seemed to find some mojo.

How FSU and Miami can be this bad, despite being situated in the middle of all that HS talent is still a little mind boggling. I know, modern era recruiting and all that, but sheesh. This isn't just a down couple of seasons, they've become second rate schools.

PSU survives Iowa more due to the Hawkeyes coughing up some very unfortunate turnovers than anything else. Losing Shaka to that targeting call might come back to haunt them in the first half against scUM next Saturday night, but the School Up North certainly has issues of their own. Thought they'd turned a corner, but even a semblance of a fight with Illinois is embarrassing.

Rondale Moore from Purdue could look good with that 2nd rounder if you're super concerned about WR.

Don't know what to say about this year's LSU team. If you'd have told me I'd see this kind of offense with an LSU QB as the Heisman frontrunner...

LSU defense will be fine. It's hard to go at the pace they do *and* shut teams down. It's a young defense, for the most part.

If we can get through the next two weeks unscathed, we should be #1 going into Alabama. I would rather be #2. Doesn't matter.

Burrow has a "swag" that this team hasn't seen in my lifetime. He won't let us rest, and he's hungry. Team follows his lead. The Bama game should be fantastic, and for the first time in years I am confident that we can...well, at least score, but probably have a decent shot. Teams are mirror images of each other. Just gotta get through Missippi State and a damn good Auburn team.

LSU really needs Terrace Marshall back. They're easier (though not easy) to defend without him. Players not named Jefferson or chase caught 4 for 43 vs Florida. We will need better production from that group to beat Bama, for sure. Chase-Marshall-Jefferson can't all be covered by any defense in the league.

This is already one of my favorite LSU seasons of all time, regardless of the outcome, because of Burrow and how we finally have the offense we've been wanting for years. It's so much fun, and it's going to do wonders for QB recruiting.

FWIW, I got last minute permission from the wife to head down to LSU-Florida last week (asked on Sunday at the beginning of the week). What a game to go to. The crowd was louder and more raucous than I've ever seen. My voice is still shot.

Clemson is coasting on their title win. They shouldn't be top 4 right now. OSU playing most complete football in land.

My top 5:

1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Wisconsin
5. Oklahoma

Knife if you can make it over to Tuscaloosa for the big game I’ll be at Buffalo Phil’s for pregame. I promise my Bama buddies are a good time if you’re so inclined

I too dig the Burrow vibe.
LSU Running game to me looked much improved against Florida and will be key to beating auburn and bama.

Bama defense is concerning and has been since late last season. I was 20 rows back for Ole Miss couple weeks ago and saw d-line play hasn’t been up to past standards. It’s 119 degrees on the field. Africa Hot thought I was going to die!

I put Oklahoma ahead of Wisconsin. Clemson too.
I know the badgers defense is pitching shutouts but they ain’t seen anything close to a big time offense like my top 5 boasts

1 Ohio St- like Wisconsin I want to see defense tested but much more NFL talent here than Wisconsin

2 LSU- Legit wins vs Texas and Florida arguably top team

3 BAMA—- bolster that non conference schedule Nick!

4 Oklahoma- Hurts isn’t perfect but he’s unflappable. Kenny Murray a speedy linebacker I like

5 Clemson- they always have that one WTF??? Game UNC was it. They’re now on autopilot until playoffs in awful ACC

Think he’s just a sophomore
How about Brad Hopkins son Brycen at TE??? Do we like him?

Up in New Jersey with a 1 year old...probably can't make it to another game unless it's the CFP.

LSU has a pick your poison offense. CEH is a damn good back. Not flashy, but runs hard and finds the hole. Early on season teams still didn't trust we could pass so they sold out to stop the run. Florida played coverage and 5 men in box all game. The holes were massive.

What's also exciting is looking ahead...Chase and Marshall are true sophomores. Got another year with them. Stingley true freshman. Top CB (Ricks) coming in to start next year. 4 star and 5 star backup rb and favorites to land another 5 star this cycle. 2020 recruiting class in general is studly. Lbs young. DL should have a few upperclass return and has youth. Chaisson I imagine will come back for one more year if he doesn't start lighting up the stat sheet.

Hard to replace Burrow, but Brennan should be good enough. Delpit too, but we have a ton of safety/tweener talent.

Fair point re Wisconsin. But I think Wisconsin gives anyone you have in the top 5 a game (I'd take them straight up over Clemson and Oklahoma right now, personally, but it's hard to predict).

Why a kid that good chooses to play for a program that bad is mind boggling.

Hey Rondale, KJ is heading to the NFL this season, and I know we've already got Garrett, with Fleming coming in, but Justin and I are here for ya, just on the other side of that Transfer Portal.
Sincerely,
Coach Day
