Dri Archer, Amondola part II. Belicheat will figure out a way to get him open in the flat.

He could be the 12th man on the field, too small and insignificant for the refs to count.
How does this guy pass on 10 PS offers? He must think other teams are going to see something in his tapes that we and PIT didn't.

Bill Belichick turned Hank Poteat into a serviceable DB.
I have no doubts he'd figure out a way for Archer to work for him.

Mike Vrabel and I want to say Chad Scott as well.

Mike Vrabel was more about Cowher being too fucking stupid to know what he had in him, than Belicheck making him. BB just saw his talent and knew how to use it.
Unless BB can add 20 lbs of muscle on him in a week, he isn't turning archer into a tailback. Dion Lewis could actually break tackles, which has dick to do with scheme or coaching.

Vrabel was about money. That was pre-Heinz and they couldnt afford a C2 for him. I remember an interview with Colbert regarding this.

BB can probably make use of him. It would really suck to see that though considering he did absolutely NOTHING here.

Nobody spit-shines a turd like Bill Belichick.

He'll pop-up on a PS somewhere once he realizes his days of getting a paycheck are numbered and how much money he's leaving on the table.
I'm not even sure how Archer is PS eligible, but I don't know the ins-and-outs of those rules. There does seem to be a requirement to have 6 weeks on a PS to use one of your 2 PS-eligible years, so Archer might be playing that game so he can remain PS-eligible next year.

I think Dri will get a shot on someone's roster. He turned down 10 practice squads, so there's obviously some interest. Dri was a failure here, but I don't hate the kid. If he gets a shot, good for him.

Cowher wouldn't play Vrabel, just like another OLB he had named James Harrison, how much money could he have commanded.

They had pretty good depth ahead of him. They let Kirkland walk, and might have been hoping to get the "hidden" Vrabel cheap on a C2. He got a better deal from NE. And PIT drafted Kendrell Bell.
Yeah, he was a better player than Holmes or Gildon, and probably Kirkland. But you'd be hard-pressed to find any NFL coach that would have cut or benched those guys for a young, unproven guy.
Every coach talks about earning your playing time with reps....But it's also usually the case the established starter has to play his way to the bench, first, to create the opportunity.

Eh, I didn't think Vrabel was all that when he played for us...he just never seemed to find a position here. They wanted him to be the next Kevin Greene. BB found a way to use him

I agree, BB will find ways to use him. Tomlin wouldn't. I remember he was wide open a few times against the Ravens last year in the playoffs but BR never looked for him. I wonder if he's just not "practice good."
All I know is that he sucked at returning kick offs.

I was a Earl Holmes fan, he was your classic inside "thumper". Loved in '01 the Steelers were completely kicking the Browns asses up in Cleveland, he and Porter were barking at fans in the Dawg Pound
I know people rag on Gildon, mainly because of Mill, but he was pretty damn decent, dong sacks and all. At least he got those
Vrabel was just miscast in Pgh.

But I also remember the Steelers having major issues covering TE's. Shit, they still to this day cant cover TE's so who the hell knows?

I agree about Gildon. I would have taken a couple of those Dong sacks last year.

Cracks me up he actually turned down 10 practice squads. He should be begging to be taken.
BTW, one of those practice squads was the PS.

Maybe he's decided he's through? That's possible too.
